Building AI for Reliable Execution: Lessons From Industrial Robotics
Standard Bots raised $200 million at a $1 billion valuation to scale AI-native industrial robot arms.
Standard Bots, which builds AI-native industrial robot arms for machine tending, welding, and assembly, raised $200 million in a Series C at a $1 billion valuation led by General Catalyst and RoboStrategy. Customers include NASA, Amazon, and Lockheed Martin. CEO Evan Beard and head of AI Leif Jentoft said models stay in the low billions of parameters, train in the cloud, and run inference on-premises because factories often lack reliable internet. A zero-shot perception model locates parts while conventional programming handles motion and cell logic.
