Can a Cloud-Native Harness Make Agents Reliable Beyond the Desktop?
Kubernetes creators' Stacklok is building Mecatl, an open-source cloud-native harness to run coding agents beyond the desktop.
Stacklok, founded by Kubernetes creators Craig McLuckie and Joe Beda, has pivoted from software supply-chain security to Kubernetes-based agent infrastructure. Its open-source Mecatl harness, started in June, separates the agent loop from tool execution, session state, and model providers so enterprises can govern coding agents in the cloud. The company raised a $17.5 million Series A in 2023 and also ships ToolHive for running and governing MCP servers.
