LinkedIn adds new checks for fake profiles and work histories
LinkedIn is adding vouching, employer controls, and workplace checks to curb fake profiles and job scams.
LinkedIn is adding checks so colleagues can confirm shared work or study periods and admins of verified company Pages can hide false employee claims from search. It is testing a requirement that people associating with a company Page verify their workplace, for example with a work email, and is extending verified-identity display to Truecaller and PeerSpot. LinkedIn says 115 million members and more than 700,000 companies are already verified. The features raise the cost of AI-made fake profiles but do not stop scams in which the supposed employer itself is fraudulent.
