Huawei plans Q1 2027 launch of new AI chip as it takes on Nvidia
Huawei will launch its Ascend 960DT AI chip in Q1 2027, months ahead of schedule, as it challenges Nvidia amid US export restrictions.
Huawei announced at Huawei Connect that the Ascend 960DT will now ship in Q1 2027 instead of Q3 2027, with the company claiming year-over-year performance doubling. Its Peerium Computing Architecture and UnifiedBus interconnect underpin the Atlas 950 SuperPoD and SuperCluster, which can connect up to 256,000 accelerator cards. The accelerated timeline comes despite US restrictions on China's access to advanced semiconductors, one week before the planned Trump-Xi meeting on September 24.
