TechCrunch surveyed consumer AI agents that users text like a person to schedule, email, shop, and complete other tasks. Instinct, still in private beta, raised $1 billion in September 2026 at a $10 billion valuation and is adding dedicated assistant email addresses and phone calls. Other options include Caddy, in public beta since April 2026; open-source Comma; Fambot, which raised $3.5 million pre-seed; Folk at $8.33 per month for Pro; Hermes-powered Iris; and Martin from $21 per month.
