Meta disputes claim that Muse read a user’s private messages without permission
Meta says Muse cannot read Mac Messages unless the user opts into Full Disk Access.
Journalist Jason Aten claimed Meta's Muse agent read his private Mac messages while Full Disk Access was disabled. Meta said Messages access is opt-in and requires Full Disk Access plus a separate Messages connector, and that macOS protections cannot be bypassed by an application bug. Meta Superintelligence Labs executive David Singleton said Muse's claim that it was syncing device notifications was an incorrect explanation. Separately, a user alleged Muse exposed his address during a Facebook Marketplace sale, which Meta is reviewing.
