Shopify launched Canvas so merchants can build live stores by chatting with its Sidekick AI.
Shopify launched Canvas, a store builder that lets merchants create and edit a Shopify site by chatting with its Sidekick AI agent. Changes render the store’s actual theme code in real time, so merchants can test interactivity, animation, and different screen sizes rather than a static preview. Shopify gave Sidekick direct access to simplified theme files and screenshot feedback. Direct element editing remains available, and Shopify says the product is still early.
