Russia reports thousands of cyberattacks on election infrastructure during vote
Russian officials report thousands of DDoS attacks and phishing attempts targeted election and e-government systems during parliamentary voting, with no confirmed compromises.
Russia's Digital Development Ministry reported about 2,000 blocked attacks on its federal online voting platform and e-government systems during the three-day parliamentary election, while the Central Election Commission counted more than 3,000 DDoS waves, including 135 against the federal voting platform and 420 against Rostelecom. Officials claimed no compromises, blaming actors from Ukraine, the UK, Brazil, and Mexico without public evidence. Hacking group CikLeak separately claimed it breached Central Election Commission and Vybory contractor systems, publishing purported screenshots and internal data. Roskomnadzor also reported over 1,500 foreign DDoS attacks and phishing sites impersonating election resources.
