Solar Designer says oss-security volume and subscriber churn remain elevated amid AI vulnerability-report floods.

Solar Designer updated the oss-security community on list load tied to AI-generated vulnerability reports. Accepted messages stayed between 319 and 400 per month from June through September, while subscriber numbers began a slight net decline and churn remained far above pre-AI levels. He also began delaying approval of multi-message disclosures until single-message reports already in the moderation queue are handled.

Key facts
  • Accepted volume stayed 319–400 messages monthly from June through September.
  • More subscribers are leaving than joining, with churn still above pre-AI levels.
  • Multi-message disclosures are delayed so queued single-message reports are approved first.

Posted by Solar Designer on Oct 16 Hi, Here's an update: We stayed in the range of 319 to 400 accepted messages per month for June through September. However, the number of subscribers started decreasing slightly - a few more people are leaving than are joining - and the churn is still much higher than it had been "before AI".
