Ubuntu USN-8661-5 patches multiple Linux kernel vulnerabilities in Raspberry Pi kernel packages. CVE-2025-27558 is an incomplete fix for CVE-2020-24588: the Wi-Fi stack mishandles aggregated frames in mesh networks, letting a physically nearby attacker inject packets. The update also covers flaws in x86, InfiniBand, network and NVMe drivers, ext4, SMB, IPv4, traffic control, TCP, and kernel locking. Ubuntu says an attacker could possibly use the issues to compromise a system.

Siebe Devroe, Héloïse Gollier, and Mathy Vanhoef discovered that the WiFi implementation in the Linux kernel did not properly handle aggregated frames in mesh networks, due to an incorrect fix for CVE-2020-24588.
