Active Exploitation Attempts Target WSO2 API Manager JWT Bypass With Forged Admin Tokens

watchTowr observed active exploitation of CVE-2026-5430, a WSO2 API Manager JWT bypass using forged admin tokens, risking credential theft and account takeover.

CVE-2026-5430 (CVSS 9.8-10.0), an improper cryptographic signature verification flaw in WSO2 API Manager, lets JWT authentication be bypassed with unsupported algorithms, enabling administrative account takeover. watchTowr honeypots captured forged JWT tokens with baked-in administrator privileges on September 13, 2026, which could expose API credentials, consumer keys, and secrets for every registered application. Affected products include WSO2 API Manager 4.1.0-4.6.0, API Control Plane, Traffic Manager, and Universal Gateway. Fixes are available via GitHub pull requests and subscription update levels, and users are urged to patch immediately.

Threat Brief: Atlassian Confluence Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (CVE-2022

Unauthenticated Confluence RCE CVE-2022-26134 was exploited in the wild; Volexity observed intrusions and Cerber ransomware on unpatched servers.

Volexity identified exploitation of CVE-2022-26134, an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Atlassian Confluence Server and Data Center, during Memorial Day weekend 2022, with Atlassian issuing a patch. Cortex Xpanse found 19,707 potentially affected Confluence instances, concentrated in the US, Germany, China, and Russia, plus 1,251 end-of-life versions exposed. Unit 42 and Cortex Managed Threat Hunting observed successful exploitation leading to reconnaissance commands and a Cerber ransomware deployment that was blocked by Cortex XDR. Hackers Exploit Maximum Severity Flaw in GitLab

CISA added GitLab path traversal CVE-2026-85706 to KEV after in-the-wild probes; unauthenticated attackers can read arbitrary files.

CVE-2026-85706 is a maximum-severity path traversal flaw in GitLab CE/EE's repository commits API that allows an unauthenticated user to read arbitrary files from the server due to improper path confinement and missing authentication enforcement. It affects versions 18.7 before 19.1.8, 19.2 before 19.2.6, and 19.3 before 19.3.2, and was fixed on September 10. Watchtower reported detecting in-the-wild probes for the bug on September 11, and CISA added the CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog with a September 15 federal patch deadline. Defenders are urged to hunt logs for HTTP POST requests to /api/v4/projects/{id}/repository/commits/ URIs containing file.path parameters.
