DynSHAP: Towards Explainable Dynamic Survival Analysis

DynSHAP extends SHAP explainability to dynamic survival analysis, treating time-feature pairs as Shapley players for longitudinal clinical predictions.

DynSHAP adapts marginal SHAP estimators to dynamic survival analysis by treating time-feature pairs as players in the Shapley game, handling longitudinal irregular inputs and functional survival outputs. Temporal DynSHAP learns linear feature dependencies over time and addresses them with conditional sampling. On synthetic data with ground-truth attributions it recovers temporally dependent features more accurately than marginal estimators, and it produces faithful attributions on two real-world clinical datasets across two DSA architectures.

A Theoretical Analysis of Generalization Dynamics in Neural Networks under Gradient Descent with Weight Decay

Theoretical framework bounds generalization for gradient descent with weight decay, deriving conditions that explain delayed generalization and grokking.

The paper proves convergence of gradient descent with weight decay to a neighborhood of global minimizers of the empirical l2 loss for a broad class of neural networks. It decomposes population error into data, optimization, and prediction variation errors, deriving cellwise and layerwise approximate-homogeneity bounds on prediction variation along the training trajectory. The resulting necessary and sufficient conditions explain layerwise generalization differences and provide a theoretical characterization of grokking.

When an Attacker Meets a Group of Agents: Navigating Amazon Bedrock's Multi

Unit 42 red-teamed Amazon Bedrock multi-agent applications, demonstrating prompt-injection attack chains that leak agent instructions and invoke tools, mitigated by Bedrock Guardrails.

Unit 42 red-teamed Amazon Bedrock Agents' multi-agent collaboration in Supervisor and Supervisor with Routing modes. The demonstrated attack chain detects the operating mode, discovers collaborator agents, delivers attacker-controlled payloads, and can disclose agent instructions and tool schemas and invoke tools with attacker-supplied inputs. No vulnerabilities were found in Bedrock itself, and the built-in prompt attack Guardrail blocked the attacks when properly configured. The researchers collaborated with Amazon's security team and frame the findings as a broader prompt injection risk for LLM-based systems.

AI Agents Are Here. So Are the Threats.

Unit 42 demonstrates nine framework-agnostic attack scenarios against AI agents built with CrewAI and AutoGen, causing data leakage, credential theft and remote code execution.

Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 investigated how attackers can target agentic applications, implementing two functionally identical apps with the open-source CrewAI and AutoGen frameworks and executing the same attacks on both. Nine attack scenarios produce outcomes including information leakage, credential theft, tool exploitation and remote code execution. Findings show most vulnerabilities are framework-agnostic, arising from insecure design patterns, misconfigurations and unsafe tool integrations rather than flaws in the frameworks themselves. The team published defense strategies per scenario and open-sourced the source code and datasets on GitHub.

Environments as Scaffold: Enriching Feedback to Bootstrap Self-Evolving Agents in Long-Horizon Tasks

Researchers propose Feedback-Enriched Environments (FEEs) that reduce reward sparsity and improve RL training of Qwen3-based agents on SciWorld and BFCL.

The paper proposes shifting from agent-side warmup (SFT) to environment-side adaptation via Feedback-Enriched Environments to address severe reward sparsity in RL training of long-horizon LLM agents. A pilot study defines a feedback strategy that transitions from action guidance to observation enrichment in later training stages. Large-scale experiments on SciWorld and BFCL across Qwen3 model scales and GRPO, GSPO, and DAPO show consistent gains, plus stabilized training dynamics and proactive exploration.

When Does Scale-Invariant Optimization Become Unstable? An Exact Schedule Law with Weight Decay

Researchers derive an exact law linking learning-rate schedules and weight decay in normalized networks, pinpointing when scale-invariant optimization destabilizes.

The paper shows that normalization makes large parts of neural networks scale-invariant, creating a hidden feedback loop where learning-rate schedules and weight decay interact through the parameter norm to control the effective optimizer step. An exact discrete-time law with a single scalar quantity separates contraction- and expansion-dominated effective learning-rate regimes, and the balance point is intrinsically unstable, so constant learning rate with weight decay produces recurrent behavior instead of a stable equilibrium. A unified homogeneous-optimizer framework explains why adaptive methods stabilize more weakly under normalization. The law is validated with high precision on MLPs, CNNs, and GPT-2 across MNIST, CIFAR, WikiText, and OpenWebText, with code released on GitHub.

Toward Secure AI-Powered Penetration Testing Agents: Security Threats, Guardrails, and Architectural Perspectives

Paper proposes a threat taxonomy and guardrail analysis for LLM-powered autonomous penetration testing agents, covering lifecycle, architecture, and behavioral attacks.

The paper analyzes security threats to autonomous LLM-based penetration testing agents that independently perform reconnaissance, vulnerability identification, exploitation planning, and post-exploitation with minimal human supervision. It characterizes trust boundaries and attack surfaces of representative agent architectures and proposes a threat taxonomy spanning LLM lifecycle attacks, agent-architecture attacks, and cross-cutting behavioral attacks. The authors argue existing conversational-AI guardrails are insufficient for agentic, long-horizon offensive workflows and outline research directions for context-aware, architecture-aware guardrails.

Recreating Minecraft Is Not a Benchmark

Opinion piece argues viral demos like one-prompt Minecraft recreations are overfit 'demo-benchmarks' measuring preparation, not true model capability.

The author argues that fixed, famous demo tasks (Minecraft builds, SVG pelicans) are trivially optimizable by labs each release cycle, so they no longer differentiate model capability. The piece cites Thinking Machines' Inkling Small scoring within a point of its flagship on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index with less than a third of the parameters, and beating it on Humanity's Last Exam, GPQA Diamond, and SciCode. The proposed alternative is rotating or holdout evals such as LiveBench, ARC-AGI's private set, and held-back portions of Humanity's Last Exam.

The Attention Triangle in Audio-Video Models

Researchers analyze the 'attention triangle' in audio-video diffusion models, showing bias-driven cross-attention routing causes semantic leakage and proposing inference-time interventions that improve grounding.

A study probes the three cross-attention edges linking text, audio, and video streams in audio-video diffusion models. It finds the audio-video edge is bidirectional and shaped by parameter-encoded biases, so prompts in tension with learned priors can be overridden, producing visually canonical but incorrect outputs. Attention-derived signals are used as diagnostics and to guide inference-time interventions that improve cross-modal semantic grounding while preserving generation quality.

TFTrack: A Template-Free Framework for Efficient 3D Point Cloud Tracking

Researchers propose TFTrack, a template-free LiDAR 3D single object tracking framework cutting FLOPs ~50% while running at ~120 FPS.

TFTrack is the first template-free framework for 3D Single Object Tracking, dropping template-search pairings and complex motion modeling in favor of the prior bounding box center plus geometric alignment. It ships in three variants (TFTrack-Voxel, TFTrack-Pillar, TFTrack-Point) covering sparse and dense 3D representations. On KITTI and nuScenes it is competitive with leading template-based trackers while reducing FLOPs by about 50% and running near 120 FPS. Code is released, targeting real-time deployment in embedded robotics such as autonomous vehicles.

GLM-5.3: How Chinese labs keep stride with the frontier

Z.ai released GLM-5.3, a ~750B-parameter model with frontier agentic coding scores, with open weights on Hugging Face planned in two weeks.

Z.ai announced GLM-5.3, initially available only in its coding plan, with API access and open Hugging Face weights promised within two weeks. The roughly 750B-parameter model, one-third the size of Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, surpasses Kimi K3 on many benchmarks and beats Claude Fable 5 or GPT-5.6-Sol on some, placing it at the frontier of agentic coding benchmarks. GLM-5.3 reuses the GLM-5.2 base model with substantially extended post-training based on more RL environments, more diverse tasks and more compute. The post also analyzes how Chinese labs keep pace with the frontier, arguing release speed matters more than distillation.
