GE-Act 2.0: Pretraining and Scaling a World-Action Model for Robotic Manipulation
GE-Act 2.0 is a from-scratch pretrained world-action model for robotic manipulation, with success rising from 17.1% to 44.1% as co-training data scales to 30,000 hours.
Genie Envisioner Act 2.0 (GE-Act 2.0) is a world-action model whose generative and action components are all initialized from scratch on manipulation data, combining a control-oriented autoencoder (CoAE), single-step visual planner (SVP), and inverse dynamics model (IDM) trained jointly via knowledge-aligned selective optimization (KASO). Scaling co-training data from 300 to 30,000 hours raises zero-shot success from 17.1% to 44.1% on G1-OP and 13.4% to 31.1% on G2-90D, despite the latter comprising under 2% of data, suggesting cross-embodiment transfer. Gains span 19/20 and 18/20 skill groups, and skill-specific coverage correlates with zero-shot OOD success (Pearson r=0.80).
AI Doesn't Mean the End of Mathematics—at Least Not Yet
Schneier and Rafi argue frontier AI models produce notable mathematical results but cannot yet build genuinely new conceptual frameworks.
Bruce Schneier and Kasra Rafi, writing in The Guardian, argue current AI models are not yet as capable as experienced academic mathematicians despite striking results. They cite OpenAI's disproof of the unit distance conjecture, Anthropic's published cryptanalysis results, and Claude's attempt at the Riemann hypothesis as achievements in counterexample search and recombining known techniques. They contend AI has not yet developed substantial new conceptual frameworks, though they expect that capability sooner rather than later.
NOAH: Learning the Full Patient Journey. A Longitudinal Multimodal Time-Aware Model for Representation and Forecasting
Researchers introduce NOAH, a generative time-aware transformer trained on 559 million MIMIC clinical events to model and forecast patient trajectories.
NOAH is a task-agnostic, time-aware generative transformer designed to represent and forecast the full multimodal patient journey across medical images, time-series signals, categorical events, and clinical text. It was trained on over 559 million clinical events from 431,000 hospital visits covering 299,000 patients in the MIMIC dataset family. The architecture combines bidirectional time integration with a variational latent space to capture continuous patient state evolution and clinical stochasticity. NOAH supports autoregressive forecasting with time control, zero-shot classification, and counterfactual intervention simulation, with evaluations on 15 ICD chapters, 29 comorbidities, and time-to-event prediction.

NOAH is a task-agnostic, time-aware generative transformer trained on over 559 million clinical events from 431,000 hospital visits by 299,000 patients across the MIMIC dataset family. It uses bidirectional time integration and a variational latent space to model the stochastic evolution of patient states, natively processing medical images, time-series signals, categorical events, and structured or unstructured clinical records. The model supports autoregressive forecasting with optional time control, zero-shot classification, and counterfactual intervention simulation, with strong probing performance across clinical outcomes, 15 ICD chapters, and 29 comorbidities.
Deep Learning-Based Detection of Electrical Faults and Power Quality Disturbances in Aerospace Power Systems
Compact ResNet detects electrical faults in 400 Hz aircraft power systems with 95.87 percent accuracy after deployment on Xilinx Zynq MPSoC.
The study targets multiclass fault and power quality disturbance detection in 400 Hz aerospace networks using a high-fidelity simulation model inspired by the Boeing 787 electrical architecture, covering 21 normal, disturbance, switching, open-circuit, and short-circuit conditions. Two 73,500-sample datasets are built from 1D waveforms and STFT time-frequency representations, augmented with domain randomization and class-specific GANs, and the time-series dataset is released via IEEE DataPort. A compact ResNet with 175,685 parameters achieved 96.94 percent software test accuracy, and 95.87 percent after 8-bit quantization on a Xilinx Zynq UltraScale Plus ZCU102 with 6.90 ms mean accelerator latency per record.
Confidence Comes from Experience: Experiential Confidence Estimation from Reasoning to Agents
XConf estimates LLM confidence from accumulated past episodes, improving calibration and discrimination across nine benchmarks at one-tenth self-consistency cost.
Researchers propose XConf, an experiential confidence estimator that augments current inference with a stored record of the model's graded past episodes, including reflections, stated confidence, outcomes, and lessons. A Recall stage retrieves episodes from similar tasks with similar stated confidence and reads off historical success rates, while a Reflect stage prompts the model to name recurring failure modes and restate confidence. Across nine benchmarks in reasoning, coding, multimodal QA, and interactive agents, and four models from three families, XConf beats or matches ten-sample self-consistency in AUROC on 23 of 24 comparisons with much lower ECE, at a tenth of the generation cost. For selective prediction, abstaining on the 10% least-confident episodes raises delivered success rate by up to 8.7 points on agent tasks.
Privacy-Aligned Personalized Federated Learning with Compact Adaptation and Variable-Length Gaussian Communication
Paper releases a private client context once and confines adaptation to coefficients, matching full-model differential privacy with 2.67x less uplink on CIFAR-10.
The paper addresses the dimensionality misalignment between record-level differential privacy and low-dimensional client variation in personalized federated learning by releasing a private client context once and restricting repeated adaptation to a fixed coefficient space. A variable-length quantized Gaussian mechanism lets quantization error itself serve as the required privacy perturbation. On MNIST and CIFAR-10, the design matches or outperforms full-model private adaptation across privacy budgets and client heterogeneity while cutting protected uplink 2.67x at epsilon=16 on CIFAR-10.
MIT creates method to force AI to comply with safety rules
MIT researchers published HardFlow, a method enforcing hard safety constraints on flow-matching generative models' final outputs without retraining.
MIT researchers led by Zeyang Li and Navid Azizan developed HardFlow, a trajectory-optimization method that enforces strict, non-negotiable constraints on flow-matching generative models by checking rule satisfaction only at the final generation step. Published in IEEE TPAMI, it outperformed six rival projection and guidance methods on four simulated benchmarks including D3IL robotic manipulation, Maze2D, physical process control, and image editing. All results are simulation-only, with no independent reproduction yet reported.
Claude Fable 5.1 Solves the Cyphral Distich, a 370-year-old cipher
Claude Fable 5.1 solved Sir Thomas Urquhart's 370-year-old Cyphral Distich cipher, recovering a hidden royalist prayer for Charles II.
Vals AI reports that Claude Fable 5.1 solved the Cyphral Distich, a 64-number cryptogram from Sir Thomas Urquhart's Logopandecteision unsolved since 1653, in 44 minutes using 176k tokens with no human hints. The key insight was that the cipher's key was the book itself: each number indexes a word in the corresponding Proquiritation, taking the first letter, yielding 'O GOD UPHOLD KING CHARLS THE SECOND AND MAKE HIM THE SUPREME RULER OF THIS LAND'. The model also deciphered the larger Cyphral Octastich (285 numbers) from The Jewel (1652) using page-based word indexing, recovering all but nine letters of a royalist prayer. The puzzle had been listed among Klaus Schmeh's Top 50 unsolved encrypted messages.
