SpatialBlock-15k contains 15,000 synthetic problems covering 3D-to-2D projection, viewpoint transformation, and structural combination, with color modulation as visual cues. LVLMs trained on it via direct answering or reasoning-based prediction outperform baselines and generalize to real-world spatial tasks. Code and data are released on GitHub.

Right Tool, Right Job: Native-Language Evaluation, Tokenizer Sensitivity, and Methodological Findings from a French-Only BabyLM

French BabyLM entry METRON-FR (125M GPT-2, 92.47M words) shows tokenizer artifacts dominate child-scale zero-shot evaluation; proposes standard diagnostics.

METRON-FR is a 125M-parameter GPT-2 pretrained on 92.47M French words, submitted to the BabyLM 2026 Strict track, scoring 85.97% on the native Quebec-French QFrBLiMP benchmark and 62.80% on the BabyLM-weighted leaderboard. A cross-lingual GLUE protocol combining French task-data translation with rank-16 LoRA shows relational tasks gain while world-knowledge tasks regress. Bilingual Lexicon Induction reaches p@1 of 68.84%, 18x above chance, and ablations show single-token zero-shot scoring is dominated by tokenizer and template artifacts at child scale.

NeoHorse-1 is a family of agent-native models trained through agentic post-training: routing-harness logs (predicted capability demand, service tier, interaction) become structurally validated training data organized into a three-stage SFT curriculum plus routing-guided on-policy distillation. Capability-guided allocation converts evaluation feedback into the next training mixture, closing an evaluation-selection-update loop. Post-training raises the macro-average from 58.94 to 64.87 at 4B and from 65.60 to 69.04 at 9B across eleven agent, tool-use, coding, and instruction-following benchmarks. The authors position it as a prototype of harness-mediated recursive self-improvement.

NTNU and Aegean researchers open-source a software-emulated Wi-Fi cyber range using mac80211_hwsim with LLM-assisted scenario building.

Researchers from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of the Aegean published a design and prototype for a cyber range dedicated to IEEE 802.11 security training, emulating access points and clients with mac80211_hwsim, Linux namespaces, hostapd, wpa_supplicant, dnsmasq, and FreeRADIUS. The platform bundles Aircrack-ng, Wireshark, and custom tools WPAxFuzz and Bl0ck, and can convert plain-language scenario descriptions into deployable definitions via a locally hosted Llama model. A working prototype covering scenario creation and deployment is on GitHub; monitoring, access control, and orchestration zones remain future work.

Training Specialist Models without Reasoning Trajectories for Domain Expert Distillation

Study shows specialists trained on question-answer pairs implicitly select latent reasoning trajectories, and tuning choices control the precision-generalization trade-off in distillation.

The work demonstrates that specialist optimization implicitly selects from a latent trajectory space when specialists are trained only on question-answer pairs without explicit reasoning supervision. Using student distillation as an agnostic probe across 27 specialist-student pairings, specialization-generalization profiles correlate exceptionally strongly. Explicitly controlling the specialist's distributional drift systematically shifts both teacher and distilled student along a controllable trade-off between domain precision and general-capability retention across chemistry, physics, and multilingual settings, even across divergent model families.
