Hackers Can Turn AI Workflows Into Privileged Data-Stealing Proxies Without Jailbreaking Models

Noma Labs describes Workflow Identity Hijacking, where unauthenticated external requesters abuse AI workflows' privileged service accounts to exfiltrate internal data without prompt injection.

Noma Labs identified 'Workflow Identity Hijacking,' an authorization gap in enterprise AI workflows triggered via public inboxes, web forms, GitHub issues, and support systems. Attackers submit legitimate-looking requests that cause workflows to retrieve and disclose internal data using privileged service accounts or creator credentials, without any prompt injection or model misbehavior. Defenses include propagating requester identity through workflows, short-lived scoped tokens, and access-control checks before sensitive actions.

Amazon Kiro Prompt Injection Can Exfiltrate Sensitive Data Through Kiro Powers

Mindgard found a prompt injection flaw in Amazon Kiro IDE letting attacker-controlled workspace files exfiltrate sensitive local data; fixed in version 0.8.140.

Mindgard disclosed a prompt injection flaw in Amazon Kiro, an agentic AI IDE, that lets attacker-controlled repository content steer the agent into exfiltrating sensitive workspace data through Kiro Powers, which bundles MCP server configurations, POWER.md steering files, hooks, and contextual knowledge. Exploitation requires the user to open a malicious project via a workspace file and send any message to the agent; difficulty is rated low and it works in both trusted and untrusted workspaces. Amazon fixed the issue in Kiro IDE 0.8.140; the flaw has no CVE identifier and follows earlier Kiro bugs including CVE-2026-10591, plus related prompt-injection and code-execution issues in Codex CLI, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, and Claude Code.

New AI Workflow Identity Hijacking Attack Lets Hackers Exfiltrate Sensitive Data

Noma Labs disclosed Workflow Identity Hijacking, an AI automation flaw letting anonymous users trigger privileged data exfiltration without prompt injection or stolen credentials.

Noma Labs researcher Sasi Levi described Workflow Identity Hijacking, where AI workflows process untrusted input from low-privileged or anonymous users but execute downstream actions with the workflow creator's elevated permissions, turning the pipeline into an unauthenticated proxy. Unlike prompt injection, the model is not tricked; the flaw is a missing authorization check between the requester and the privileged actions. Noma Labs also disclosed and helped fix a similar issue in Google Workflows, and linked the problem to the earlier GitLost research on GitHub Agentic Workflows. Recommended mitigations include per-user identity propagation, least-privilege service accounts and authorization checks before every downstream action.

Apple Xcode Integer Underflow Flaw Lets Crafted Archives Leak Memory and Crash Builds

Researchers disclosed an integer underflow in Apple's Mach-O archive parser that lets crafted static libraries crash Xcode builds or leak process memory.

SecureLayer7 disclosed an integer underflow in the mach_o::Archive::Entry::name() function in Apple's open-source dyld project, reported to Apple Product Security on May 23, 2026, with no public patch after more than 90 days. Crafted static archives (.a files) cause the parser's unsigned index to wrap to SIZE_MAX, producing SIGSEGV crashes in the ld-prime linker, out-of-bounds reads that may print adjacent memory to stderr, or SIGABRT in libtool and ranlib. The modern parser is used by ld-prime, the default linker for arm64, arm64e, and x86_64 since Xcode 15, while legacy ld-classic is unaffected. Crafted archives need only be processed, creating supply-chain risk via vendored SDKs, binary dependencies, and CI pipelines.

What researchers learned about building an LLM security workflow

Oslo and FFI researchers show structured agentic workflows lift LLM alert-triage accuracy from 0% to about 93% on malicious cases.

Researchers at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment tested GPT-5-mini, Claude 3 Haiku, Qwen3:30B, and Gemma 3:27B on alerts from the AIT Log Data Set V1.1; given only alert descriptions and log summaries, all four models correctly flagged zero percent of true-positive cases involving reconnaissance, brute-force logins, and initial access. Wrapping the same models in a workflow with constrained SQL queries over Suricata logs, an evidence summarizer, and a verdict stage with revision loops raised malicious-case accuracy to an average of 93 percent, with GPT-5-mini identifying every malicious case across 100 runs. The authors flag it as a proof-of-concept on one synthetic scenario and note models skewed conservative on benign alerts, with GPT-5-mini marking every benign case uncertain.

Context Engineering Inside the Harness: 4 Mechanisms That Beat Context Overflow and Goal Loss on Long-Horizon Tasks

Survey of four harness mechanisms—context budgeting, compaction, todo-state, and memory—that keep long-horizon LLM agents on task across 200+ tool calls.

The article details how agent harnesses, not larger context windows, solve context overflow and goal loss on long-horizon tasks, citing Chroma's Context Rot report showing 18 LLMs (GPT-4.1, Claude 4, Gemini 2.5, Qwen3) degrade on long inputs. Concrete implementations include LangChain Deep Agents offloading tool responses over 20,000 tokens to the filesystem and truncating old tool calls at 85% window usage, and Claude Code capping auto memory at 25KB while re-reading the 5 most recently modified files after compaction. OpenAI's Responses API now offers server-side compaction via context_management with a standalone /responses/compact endpoint, which Codex uses for long-running coding tasks. Manus reports a roughly 100:1 input-to-output token ratio per ~50-tool-call task, motivating todo.md state recitation to prevent goal drift.

IBIB: A Protocol for Measuring Enterprise AI Systems by Serving Route, Not Model Identifier

IB2 protocol scores enterprise AI systems by serving route with reliability-inclusive scoring; serving-arm choice moved one score from 77.38 to 82.54.

The protocol has three parts: a gold-blind capability-binding preflight verifying a route can execute the evaluation contract, a reliability-inclusive first-pass scoring rule, and structurally score-blind adjudication. Its reference instantiation uses 128 locked tasks and 987 assertions over document, spreadsheet, chart, tool, and database work, released as procedure and schemas rather than an exposed corpus. Across eleven systems, two complete runs on identical weights later failed distinct binding-gate predicates, four of seven suites saturate within a six-system band driven by governed database work and multi-tab joins, and excluding failed responses from denominators changes the point ordering. Serving-arm choice shifted one declared revision and precision from 77.38 to 82.54, though arms differed in access mode, harness generation, and the tool-call parser.

AI supply chain risk is showing up in developer workflows first

Zentera Systems CEO says AI supply chain attacks currently hit developer workflows first, advising segmentation over tooling and citing the Phantom Raven campaign.

In an interview, Zentera Systems CEO Dr. Jaushin Lee argues that most active AI supply chain incidents target developer workflows and open-source package repositories, while poisoned model weights, compromised MCP servers, and poisoned vector stores remain largely in research and demos. He cites the active 'Phantom Raven' campaign, where attackers register AI-hallucinated package names in public repositories with malicious payloads that silently infect vibe-coding build pipelines. He recommends software-defined segmentation, semiconductor-style project enclaves with egress controls, and warns that self-hosting models without agent sandboxing leaves exposure unchanged.
