German Rheinmetall open-sources its Battlesuite connected weapon system protcol
Rheinmetall published open-source documentation for onboardapi, its Battlesuite middleware linking weapon system sensors and software via the DDS standard.
German defense contractor Rheinmetall released documentation and interface libraries for onboardapi, a C++ middleware with Java, C#/.NET, and Python wrappers for communication between sensor systems and software components in its Battlesuite connected weapon system. The library uses the OMG Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard with XTypes and XCDR2 encoding for low-latency publish-subscribe data exchange and backward compatibility.
