BigBear 2 PhaaS Campaign Steals 5000+ Microsoft Credentials

CloudSEK researchers found the BigBear 2.0 PhaaS kit, built on Evilginx2, has stolen over 5,100 Microsoft 365 credentials across 461 organizations in 40+ countries.

CloudSEK gained admin access to the BigBear 2.0 phishing-as-a-service panel, an Evilginx2-based adversary-in-the-middle platform operated by someone using the alias 'General Boss'. The team observed 3,331 unique victim IPs across more than 40 countries, 42 VPS nodes mostly on Vultr, and 5,137 credential records across 461 organizations, including 4,148 session cookies, 1,032 plaintext passwords, and 474 completed MFA-bypassed authentications. IT and managed service providers were the most targeted sector, raising supply-chain risk since their compromise can expose client infrastructure and privileged Azure AD access.

North Korean IT Workers Pay People to Sit Through Job Interviews While They Control the Computer

Silent Push found North Korean IT workers recruiting on-camera proxies for job interviews while remotely controlling the computer, defeating identity and location checks.

Silent Push researchers engaged the "Tec Guru" persona via Discord and Telegram and assessed with moderate-to-high confidence that the operator is a North Korean IT worker recruiting on-camera proxies in the US, Europe, and Latin America for a 35/65 revenue split. During Google Meet interviews, the proxy stays on camera while the real worker supplies answers via ChatGPT-generated prompts, real-time messaging, or remote-control tools such as AnyDesk and TeamViewer. Successfully placed workers can access source code, cloud tenants, and CI/CD systems, and payments create sanctions exposure; the US, Japan, South Korea, and eight other governments issued a joint identity-verification alert on July 31, 2026.

Risky Bulletin: BEC campaign steals €35 million from French notaries

Hackers stole over €35 million from 500+ French notary offices in a four-year BEC campaign; ANSSI spent two years helping evict the attackers.

A business email compromise campaign breached more than 500 French notary offices — about 7% of all French notaries per the Conseil Supérieur du Notariat — over four years, stealing more than €35 million by phishing initial access and silently modifying wire transfer details. France's cybersecurity agency ANSSI worked for two years behind the scenes to help notaries remove the persistent attackers, who had deep access; officials also feared hackers could issue fake notarized acts such as marriage certificates or forged real estate deals. No forged documents have been found so far, but notaries have added two-factor authentication and in-person requirements for banking details, and banks added extra checks in 2024. The newsletter also notes other incidents, including a $320 million Bitcoin extraction from Blockstream's Liquid Network and a JetBrains Cadence breach via TeamCity servers.

GhostCode Abuses Microsoft Entra Device Enrollment to Maintain Access After Token Revocation

eSentire exposes GhostCode, a device-code phishing kit that abuses Microsoft Entra device enrollment to persist even after stolen tokens are revoked.

eSentire's Threat Response Unit observed GhostCode campaigns in late August 2026, using BEC-style social engineering that impersonated procurement staff, including BJ's Wholesale Club, via Salesforce contact forms. Victims received password-protected HTML lures disguised as a FlipBook document portal, with junk-data padding, HTML comment injection, and AES-256-GCM encrypted redirects gated by anti-bot checks. The kit exploits the OAuth 2.0 device authorization grant, prompting victims to approve real Microsoft device-code sign-ins with MFA. Within 78 seconds of approval, attackers registered three Entra devices and obtained a Primary Refresh Token, so rogue device registrations persist even after session token revocation.

I Hijacked a Real Artist's Spotify with AI Music. It Was Disturbingly Easynew

A journalist used DistroKid's loophole to publish an Udio-generated song on Lathe of Heaven's verified Spotify page, exposing a widespread AI music royalty scam.

A 404 Media reporter generated a punk song with Udio and, via a $3.75-per-month DistroKid account, released it under the name of Brooklyn punk band Lathe of Heaven without any identity verification by the distributor or streaming platforms. The AI-generated track appeared a day later on the band's Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music and Deezer pages, with royalties flowing to the uploader. Similar abuse has hit deceased musicians such as Blaze Foley, and Spotify says artist profiles that are not actively managed are especially vulnerable.

Outsider Phishing Kit Survives Takedown With 700 New Pages

Group-IB found the Outsider phishing kit kept generating 700+ new phishing pages within a month of Operation Ghost Hook's takedown.

Group-IB linked the Outsider Phishing Kit, operated by a threat actor known as ChenLun, to more than 100,000 phishing pages across 54+ countries between December 2025 and May 2026. After the FBI, Google, and Lumen's Black Lotus Labs seized core admin servers, a Shopify storefront, about $100,000, and thousands of domains under Operation Ghost Hook in June, over 700 new phishing domains appeared within a month. The kit offered 267 templates, adversary-in-the-middle MFA interception, WebSocket-based live operator communication, and SMS delivery via a Telegram affiliate ecosystem with more than 5,000 subscribers.

Passkey-themed phishing attacks lead to Microsoft 365 data theft

Microsoft links ShinyHunters- and Helix-affiliated actors to passkey-themed vishing and device-code phishing that compromises Microsoft 365 accounts and steals cloud data.

Microsoft attributes passkey- and SSO-themed social engineering activity, observed since May 2026, to Storm-3121 (linked to ShinyHunters and Falcon) and Storm-3032 (tied to BlackFile members now operating as Helix). Attackers impersonate corporate IT help desks by phone or SMS, urging fake passkey, MFA, or SSO updates and directing victims to adversary-in-the-middle phishing pages or device-code authentication flows that yield credentials, session tokens, and OAuth tokens. Post-compromise behavior includes Microsoft Graph enumeration of users, SharePoint, and OAuth grants, plus persistence via attacker-controlled MFA methods. Google Threat Intelligence tracks related activity as UNC6671, linked to the BlackFile, Helix, Falcon, Pink, and Redact extortion gangs.

BigBear 2.0 phishing campaign hijacks Microsoft 365 sessions after MFA

CloudSEK uncovered BigBear 2.0, a PhaaS operation that captured 4,148 Microsoft 365 session cookies, hijacking authenticated sessions after MFA via AiTM proxy.

CloudSEK infiltrated the BigBear 2.0 phishing-as-a-service panel in June, finding 5,137 credential records tied to 461 organizations in over 40 countries, including 4,148 captured session cookies and 474 completed post-MFA logins. The operation, built on Evilginx2, uses an attacker-controlled reverse proxy to steal authenticated session cookies and residential proxies to defeat location-based Conditional Access checks, while custom code disables FIDO2/WebAuthn on phishing pages. At least five affiliates operated 42 VPS nodes, with IT services and managed service providers the most targeted sector.

The Smishing Deluge: China-Based Campaign Flooding Global Text Messages

Unit 42 attributes a global smishing campaign with 194,000+ phishing domains impersonating tolls, banks, and couriers to the Smishing Triad.

Palo Alto Unit 42 attributes ongoing smishing texts about toll violations and package misdelivery to the Smishing Triad, targeting U.S. residents since April 2024. Researchers identified 194,345 FQDNs across 136,933 root domains registered since January 2024, mostly via Hong Kong registrar Dominet (HK) Limited with Chinese nameservers and hosting concentrated on U.S. cloud services. The decentralized campaign impersonates banking, cryptocurrency, e-commerce, healthcare, law enforcement, and social media services, and its scale points to a large phishing-as-a-service operation. Phishing pages harvest national ID numbers such as Social Security numbers, home addresses, payment details, and login credentials.
