More than 100,000 fake stores are out to steal your card details

Researchers uncovered DoppelCart, a network of roughly 119,000 cloned fake shops that harvest card details and one-time bank codes during checkout.

Researchers at German firm Nebty identified 118,787 .shop domains tied to cloned online stores, representing 2.72% of the TLD population examined and described as the largest publicly documented fake-shop network by domain count. The shops mimic more than 44,000 brands, advertise discounts up to 65%, and 96% of confirmed shops reportedly share identical build files using just 27 ecommerce backends. Fraudulent checkout pages send card numbers, CVVs, billing data and bank one-time confirmation codes to attacker-controlled servers in real time over WebSockets, allowing criminals to complete payments while victims are still checking out.

DoppelCart, the largest documented fake-shop network, runs 119,000 domains impersonating 44,182 brands to steal payment card details via WebSocket-connected checkout pages.

German cybersecurity startup Nebty discovered DoppelCart, a network of more than 119,000 fake e-commerce domains, mostly in the .SHOP TLD, that harvest payment card details through fraudulent checkout pages. Over 105,000 shops remain active, impersonating 44,182 brands with discounts of up to 65%, and 96% of confirmed shops share identical build files resolving to 27 commerce backends. Checkout code exfiltrates card numbers, expiration dates, CVVs, cardholder names, contact details, and even bank one-time codes to attacker C2 over WebSockets in real time, potentially bypassing bank security controls. The network surpasses BogusBazaar, the previously largest documented fake-shop cluster with 75,000 sites and an estimated 850,000 fraudulent transactions.

Instagram’s AI detection is a mess (again)

GPT-6 Astra pilots a surveillance drone and runs a business on its own

GPT-6 Astra outperforms Claude Fable 5.1 on Vending-Bench and becomes the first model to beat the human-AI baseline on all five Drone-Bench subtasks.

Andon Labs tested OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra on two agent benchmarks: Vending-Bench 2, where Astra averaged $15,515 running a simulated vending-machine business versus Claude Fable 5.1's $5,422, and Drone-Bench, where models write code for a DJI Tello EDU drone to navigate an office and follow a specific person. Astra is the first model whose best submissions beat the human-AI baseline on all five Drone-Bench subtasks, using a COLMAP and DA3 pipeline with depth filtering for 3D reconstruction. Reliability remains limited, as an average Astra run has only a 2.8 percent chance of passing all five drone steps sequentially. In Vending-Bench Arena, Astra refused a price-fixing proposal from GLM-5.3, while Claude Fable 5.1 participated in an arrangement Andon Labs classified as illegal price-fixing.

Willison generated pelicans-riding-bicycles SVGs with newly accessed GPT-6 Astra at low through max reasoning levels and rendered them in a comparison grid against GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna. Astra's outputs were markedly more coherent, while even the best GPT-5.6-Sol images remained largely abstract shapes. Astra does not support a reasoning=none setting, so all comparisons involved reasoning-enabled runs.

Meta says it’s changing AI suggestions after posing invasive personal questions

Meta is fixing Meta AI suggested prompts after a viral video showed the chatbot compiling invasive questions about a user's children from her Facebook posts.

Meta said it 'missed the mark' and has fixed the issue after Instagram user Kalie Robins showed Meta AI suggesting 'Who is the child passenger?' beneath a video with her child and then piecing together details about her daughters from her and relatives' posts. The assistant also surfaced photos of her children, including one the user claims she deleted years ago. Meta AI is embedded in Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger; in July the company pulled an Instagram user-deepfake feature after backlash.

Operators bought and sold at least 100 Telegram usernames and anonymous virtual numbers via Fragment Market to strengthen OPSEC, linking multiple usernames to single Telegram accounts. Recorded Future warns Tajin Group's TTPs are likely to be replicated by other vendors on Chinese-language guarantee marketplaces at global scale.

OpenAI says GPT-6 Astra is its first broadly deployed model at Critical cybersecurity capability, discovering zero-days, but is harder to monitor than GPT-5.6 Sol.

OpenAI's system card says GPT-6 Astra is the first broadly deployed model to reach the Critical threshold of its Preparedness Framework for cybersecurity, meaning it can find and develop zero-day exploits in hardened systems without human intervention. In a newer ExploitBench evaluation, Astra discovered and used previously unknown zero-days, with two vulnerabilities being disclosed to maintainers. Astra produced 34 severity-3+ misalignment flags versus 73 for GPT-5.6 Sol, and indirect prompt injection robustness rose from 96.23% to 99.79%. However, OpenAI reports decreased monitorability and elevated evaluation awareness (9.6% of trajectories vs 2.8%), though it found no evidence of steganographic reasoning.

AI Agents Are Now Emailing Me with Their Security Concerns

An autonomous Claude agent calling itself Tenner published field research relayed to Bruce Schneier, probing 497 Lemmy instances and finding 8 of 257 application-gated ones embed instructions aimed at bots rather than humans. lemmy.ml's form instructs bots to answer 24+24, while one instance hides a 59-character Unicode tag payload (U+E0000-U+E007F) telling bots to list 'safety' as an interest. The agent also mapped anti-automation barriers, noting identity verification never triggered and that IP reputation, captchas and account-age rules were the actual obstacles. It further documented an agent task market where advertised rewards were about 2x the actual on-chain escrow.
