Flock cameras are riddled with security vulnerabilities and hardcoded creds

Leaked Flock ALPR camera firmware reveals EOL Android 8.1, a 2017 Linux kernel, and hardcoded API keys granting access to production credentials.

DDoSecrets published filesystem images from an in-use Flock ALPR camera, obtained by the hacker collective stegan0gram and investigated by 404 Media and Wired. Micah Lee's analysis shows the camera runs Android 8.1 with a security patch level of 2018-06-05 and Linux kernel 3.18.71, missing roughly eight years of Android fixes. The firmware exposes a hardcoded API key for Flock's hpnotiq backend that can retrieve Auth0 client credentials for any camera by MAC address, with credentials stored in plaintext. Likely unpatched flaws include CVE-2021-1905 (Qualcomm Adreno use-after-free) and CVE-2018-9568 (WrongZone kernel socket type confusion); Flock says it received no reports via its disclosure policy.

CVE-2026-85706 | GitLab CE/EE Repository Commits API Path Traversal Vulnerability

GitLab patches CVSS 10.0 path traversal CVE-2026-85706 letting unauthenticated attackers read arbitrary files on self-managed CE/EE servers.

GitLab disclosed CVE-2026-85706, a CVSS 3.1 10.0 path traversal flaw in the repository commits API of self-managed GitLab CE/EE (18.7 before 19.1.8, 19.2 before 19.2.6, 19.3 before 19.3.2), exploitable without authentication to read arbitrary server files. Successful exploitation can expose credentials, tokens, SSH keys, and database credentials accessible to the GitLab process. Fixed versions 19.1.8, 19.2.6, and 19.3.2 were released September 10, 2026; GitLab.com and Dedicated were already patched and no workaround is provided. Horizon3 released a NodeZero Rapid Response test to validate exposure and advises credential rotation for internet-facing instances.

Remote Desktop Services Failures on Windows Servers Following September Update

September 2026 Patch Tuesday updates cause Windows Server 2019/2022/2025 RDS sessions to freeze, forcing administrators to roll back.

Cumulative updates KB5122876 (Windows Server 2019), KB5122882 (2022), and KB5122871 (2025) trigger Remote Desktop Services freezes hours after boot, with RDP connections hanging at 'Connecting…' and Event ID 20498 logged. Administrators trace the fault to an apparent deadlock in RDPSERVERBASE!WDLIB_Close during session teardown; only hard resets restore service and the issue recurs. The same September release patched roughly 973 vulnerabilities, including two actively exploited zero-days (CVE-2026-81963, CVE-2026-85880, both in CISA's KEV) and a critical RDS RCE, CVE-2026-69525 (CVSS 9.8). Workarounds include DISM-based removal of the update or an unofficial FeatureManagement registry key disabling the suspected audio-redirection code path; Microsoft has not yet confirmed the bug.

Hackers Exploit Critical Cisco ISE Flaw to Bypass Authentication and Gain Root Access

Cisco patched CVE-2026-76460, a CVSS 10.0 authentication bypass in ISE and ISE-PIC that can grant unauthenticated attackers root access.

Cisco's advisory cisco-sa-ISE-ABP-VNSW7Tn5 (September 16, 2026) describes CVE-2026-76460, insufficient authentication controls (CWE-648) on an exposed API endpoint in Cisco ISE and ISE-PIC, rated CVSS 10.0. Successful exploitation lets an unauthenticated remote attacker bypass management interface authentication and potentially obtain command-and-control with root privileges, enabling log tampering and persistence. Software updates are available with no workarounds; Cisco urges prioritized patching, log review for suspicious usernames, and reimaging of suspect nodes.

Critical GitLab Flaws Let Attackers Read Arbitrary Files, Steal Credentials and Execute Code

GitLab issues emergency patches for critical path-traversal flaw CVE-2026-85706 (CVSS 10.0), GraphQL credential exposure CVE-2026-87719, and potential RCE flaw CVE-2026-88765.

GitLab released versions 19.3.2, 19.2.6, and 19.1.8 on September 10, 2026, fixing 18 vulnerabilities across Community and Enterprise Editions. CVE-2026-85706 allows unauthenticated arbitrary file reads via the repository commits API; CVE-2026-87719 exposes Advanced Search credentials through GraphQL subscription deserialization; CVE-2026-88765 may enable authenticated RCE via crafted project export imports. No exploitation was reported, but self-managed administrators are urged to upgrade immediately and review logs for suspicious API and GraphQL activity.

The skb that wasn't freed - the Fragnesia primitive via Open vSwitch

Doyensec details CVE-2026-90049 in Open vSwitch, enabling deterministic Linux kernel local privilege escalation on default major distribution installs.

Doyensec reports that the Open vSwitch datapath strips the SKBFL_SHARED_FRAG flag from packets it is still forwarding, allowing an in-place decrypt to write attacker-chosen bytes into root-owned page cache — a Dirty COW-class primitive that re-opens the Fragnesia bug family. The issues are tracked as CVE-2026-90049, CVE-2026-89487, and CVE-2026-80977, and were reported to the kernel security team with fixes coordinated alongside OVS maintainers. A deterministic local privilege escalation works on default installs of Arch, Fedora, Debian, Amazon Linux, and RHEL where unprivileged user namespaces and openvswitch auto-loading are enabled; the fix landed in mainline and shipped in stable on 09/04/2026. The write technique builds on the earlier Fragnesia and Dirty Frag bugs, including CVE-2026-43284 and CVE-2026-43500.

AL26-020 - Vulnerabilities Impacting MikroTik RouterOS - CVE-2026-67276, CVE-2026-67277 and CVE-2026-86060

Canada's Cyber Centre warns of three exploited MikroTik RouterOS vulnerabilities affecting SSH-exposed devices; CISA added two to its KEV catalog.

The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security issued alert AL26-020 for three MikroTik RouterOS vulnerabilities, especially on devices exposing SSH to the internet: CVE-2026-67277 (missing authentication, CWE-306, enabling sensitive information disclosure), CVE-2026-86060 (argument injection, CWE-88, enabling privilege escalation), and CVE-2026-67276 (improper cryptographic signature verification, CWE-347, allowing SSH command channel access without the private key). On September 10, 2026, CISA added CVE-2026-67277 and CVE-2026-86060 to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Fixed versions include RouterOS 6.49.21, 7.23.4 (Long-Term), 7.24.2 (Stable), and 7.25 beta 3.
