Check Point Discloses Two 9.8-Rated VPN Certificate Flaws Enabling Unauthenticated RCE

Check Point patched two 9.8-rated VPN certificate flaws, CVE-2026-85102 and CVE-2026-85103, enabling unauthenticated remote code execution; no exploitation observed yet.

Check Point disclosed and began patching two critical (CVSS 9.8) vulnerabilities in VPN certificate handling on September 9: CVE-2026-85102, a certificate trust validation failure in VPN negotiation on Security Gateways, and CVE-2026-85103, a heap-based buffer overflow in ASN.1 decoding affecting Quantum Security Gateways and Security Management Server. Affected branches include R81.20, R82, and R82.10 Jumbo Hotfix levels; fixes ship via Live Patch or the latest Jumbo Hotfix. The company found both internally and reports no evidence of exploitation; the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security also published an advisory listing Spark firewalls.

Zero Day Initiative — CVE-2026-33824: Remote Code Execution in Windows ...

ZDI details CVE-2026-33824, a double-free in Windows IKEv2 fragment reassembly enabling unauthenticated remote code execution as SYSTEM on Windows.

Zero Day Initiative published technical analysis of CVE-2026-33824, a double-free in the Windows IKE Extension (ikeext.dll) caused by improper ownership handling of a heap blob pointer during IKEv2 fragment reassembly in IkeReinjectReassembledPacket(). A remote unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted IKE_SA_INIT message with a Security Realm Vendor ID followed by fragmented IKE_AUTH payloads to trigger the double free. Successful exploitation could yield arbitrary code execution under the IKEEXT service context (SYSTEM). ZDI also provided IDS detection guidance correlating the two-packet sequence on UDP ports 500 and 4500.

Isolated-vm Flaw Lets Sandboxed JavaScript Escape to Host for Potential RCE

Critical type-confusion flaw in isolated-vm Node.js sandbox (GHSA-864f-rcv7-6rh4) enables guest-to-host escape and potential RCE; fixed in 6.2.0 and 7.0.1.

Endor Labs researcher Cristian-Alexandru Staicu found a type confusion in the ExternalCopy component's handling of the transferList option in isolated-vm, letting sandboxed JavaScript corrupt host-process memory and escalate from controlled-address crashes to full control-flow hijack of the host, i.e., potential remote code execution. The flaw, tracked as GHSA-864f-rcv7-6rh4 with no CVE yet, affects all versions through 7.0.0 of the library, which sees nearly 1 million npm downloads weekly. It was patched in versions 6.2.0 and 7.0.1 released earlier in August 2026, and full exploit details are withheld to prevent attacks. The V8 Isolate boundary itself held; the failure was in the C++ marshalling code bridging host and guest.
