Programmable World Model

Programmable World Model decouples executable world-state evolution from video generation, reaching 94% Count Accuracy and 98% State Accuracy on new CombatStateBench.

An agent translates natural-language instructions into executable programs specifying entity states and transition rules, executed by a lightweight engine that maintains an explicit, persistent global world state including off-screen entities. State-augmented 3D oriented bounding boxes are deterministically compiled into pixel-aligned spatiotemporal conditioning signals for a pretrained video model acting as the generative renderer. On the new CombatStateBench benchmark it achieves 94% Count Accuracy and 98% State Accuracy, substantially outperforming existing interactive video world models.

Claude Mythos AI Autonomously Executes Full Cyber Kill Chain Without Human Guidance

Booz Allen's benchmark found Anthropic's Claude Mythos was the only tested model to autonomously complete a full cyber kill chain to domain administrator control.

Booz Allen assessed 18 US and Chinese models as autonomous attackers against a production-grade enterprise network, measuring actions via network and host telemetry. Claude Mythos scored 80 on the Cyber Weapon Index (74 vulnerability research, 86 kill-chain attainment), moving from a stolen employee credential to administrator-level control in every credentialed attempt. Only frontier Anthropic models identified the previously unseen flaw in compiled software, and only Claude Mythos exploited it; the report notes a harness paired with Claude Sonnet could rival Claude Mythos. The result is a controlled benchmark, not evidence of a real-world campaign or victim breach.

Ask HN: How do you manage skills files?

A Hacker News thread debates whether agent skill files are worth managing, citing 2–4x output-token reductions on flagship models in one company's testing.

Commenters argue skills are stored prompts that help less-technical users compensate for weak prompting, while one participant reports company testing found skills reduce flagship-model output tokens by roughly 2–4x, a gap growing with newer models. Others note skills can bundle reusable scripts and inline commands for deterministic context building, and that harnesses now execute backticked commands before the agent sees the skill. Some argue improving model capability makes downloadable skills redundant.

Diffs vs. Whole Files: An Empirical Comparison of Iterative Edit-Based and Direct Generation for Flutter/Dart Code Models

Empirical study finds direct whole-file generation beats iterative diff-based editing for Flutter/Dart code models on about 1,790 held-out tasks.

Researchers trained Rainbow-Pony-100M from scratch and fine-tuned Qwen2.5-Coder-0.5B in both direct-generation and diff-based regimes, then evaluated four resulting models on roughly 1,790 Flutter/Dart tasks. Direct generation outperformed diff-based generation on compilation pass rate, bits-per-byte, character-level similarity, and blinded LLM-judge ratings. Diff-based editing is competitive only on short, localized edits in refactoring and error-handling tasks, a property the authors call task locality.

MaxKernel: Agentic Kernel Generation for TPUs

Researchers open-source MaxKernel, a multi-agent LLM system that generates and optimizes TPU kernels matching expert hand-tuned baselines on JaxBench.

MaxKernel is a multi-agent system offering three paradigms for TPU kernel development: human-in-the-loop collaborative design, a fully autonomous metric/trace-driven optimization loop, and graph-based autonomous search for global exploration. All paradigms draw on a shared pool of specialized sub-agents for planning, implementation, self-debugging, testing, and hardware profiling. Evaluated on JaxBench's 50 diverse TPU kernel tasks and real-world workloads from open-source models, it consistently matches expert hand-tuned baselines. The system is open-sourced via the AI-Hypercomputer GitHub repository.

OpenVDN/vdn-minimax-h3 — new model trending #12 on Hugging Face

OpenVDN releases VDN-H3, an open hybrid-attention video model on MiniMax H3 that renders a 14.4-second 768p clip in 11.23 seconds on 8 B200 GPUs.

VDN-Minimax-H3 (VDN-H3) adds a frame-wise linear attention branch plus two LoRA adapters to MiniMax H3, distilled into 8-step and 50-step variants. It generates 768p, 14.4-second clips in 11.23 seconds on 8 B200 GPUs (90.5 seconds on one H200) using 8 denoising steps. Weights (about 82 GB total, including the 72 GB H3 base), the optimized inference stack, and training code are fully open-source under the MiniMax H3 Community License, which excludes the EU, UK, Korea, and US.

The Regulators Already Assume You Have an AI Inventory. Do You?

Checkmarx argues regulators now expect organizations to maintain an AI inventory as AI-generated code and outputs enter security workflows.

Checkmarx contends that implicit trust in AI-generated code, AI summaries, and scanner output has become a governance liability that regulators no longer accept. The piece argues security teams must formalize AI inventories and treat AI outputs as untrusted inputs. It frames AI governance as an emerging compliance expectation rather than an internal maturity project.

BreezeBlue/Breeze-TTS-2 — new model trending #19 on Hugging Face

BreezeBlue open-weights Breeze TTS 2, a bilingual text-to-speech model it ranks #1 among open-weight models on the Artificial Analysis TTS leaderboard.

BreezeBlue released open weights and Apache 2.0-licensed PyTorch inference code for Breeze TTS 2 on 2026-08-25. The text-to-speech model supports English and Chinese, voice cloning, reference-free voice design, voice direction, and inline vocal events like (laugh) and (sigh). Reported performance includes #1 open-weight ranking on the Artificial Analysis Elo leaderboard, under 40 ms time-to-first-audio, a 0.32 real-time factor on an NVIDIA H100, and about 7.7 GiB GPU memory for eager inference.

Researchers Show How Meta's 'Pervert Glasses' Are Used to Harass Women

University of Sydney researchers detail how pickup artists use Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to covertly film and harass women, then post the videos on Instagram.

Researchers Joanne Gray, Milica Stilinovic, Marcus Carter, and Ben Egliston analyzed 350 Instagram videos posted between September 2023 and March 2026 showing unsolicited approaches to women filmed with smart glasses. They found a clear correlation between covert filming and harassment severity, arguing ambient capture creates 'borderline' harassment that evades platform moderation mechanisms. Instagram head Adam Mosseri said the platform would remove harassing pickup-line content, though similar videos remain widespread a month later. Meta's safeguards, such as the recording light, were previously criticized as insufficient, and users have modded glasses to disable the light.
