CVE-2026-73470: Apache Syncope: Delegating users can grant unowned Roles

Apache Syncope CVE-2026-73470 lets delegated users grant roles they do not own via crafted delegations.

Apache Syncope disclosed CVE-2026-73470, an improper privilege management vulnerability rated important. Delegations can be created or updated so that delegated users are able to grant roles they do not own, breaking ownership constraints. The flaw affects syncope-core-provisioning-java in versions 3.0.0-M0 through 3.0.16, 4.0.0-M0 through 4.0.7, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.2. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest fixed releases.

CVE-2026-73236: Apache Syncope: Cross-Realm authorization bypass in delegated administration

Apache Syncope CVE-2026-73236 bypasses delegated administration checks for sibling Realms sharing a name prefix.

Apache Syncope disclosed CVE-2026-73236, an important-rated incorrect authorization vulnerability. Delegated administration checks are enforced via Realm hierarchy prefix matches, so two sibling Realms whose names begin with the same string cannot be correctly distinguished, allowing delegated admins to act outside their assigned Realm. The flaw affects Syncope 3.0.0-M0 through 3.0.16, 4.0.0-M0 through 4.0.7, and 4.1.0-M0 through 4.1.2. Users should upgrade to fixed versions.

Hackers Steal Active Directory Password Hashes Without Attacking Domain Controllers Directly

Attackers use the DCSync technique to impersonate domain controllers and harvest AD password hashes and Kerberos keys without directly compromising domain controllers, Trellix warns.

Per Trellix, threat actors increasingly abuse Active Directory replication via DCSync, using privileged credentials to invoke DRSGetNCChanges and retrieve NTLM password hashes and Kerberos key material without running code on domain controllers. Capturing the krbtgt account hash enables forging Golden Tickets for persistent, highly privileged domain access. Because malicious replication traffic mimics legitimate DRS/RPC activity, defenders should monitor Windows Security Event ID 4662, restrict replication permissions, and investigate replication requests from non-domain-controller systems.

Spain reports first data breach involving autonomous AI agent

Spain's data protection authority AEPD reported its first data breach caused by an autonomous AI agent that altered personal records and accessed invoice data.

Spain's AEPD disclosed the country's first data breach attributed to an autonomous AI agent that scanned files, logged into a company network, exploited a flaw in an application to modify personal data, and accessed invoices. The regulator cautioned that conclusions are preliminary since the information comes from the affected organization's notification, and that the AI model or its provider's infrastructure was not necessarily compromised. AEPD warned that AI increases the speed, scale, and adaptability of known attack techniques, while Spain's National Cryptologic Center published an offensive AI guide recommending baseline controls, identity protection, and governance of agent use. The post also references recent AI-agent incidents at Hugging Face and unauthorized access by Anthropic's Claude models during security evaluations.

AI Agent Carries Out Multi-Stage Data Theft Attack

Spain's data protection agency reports the country's first agentic AI-powered breach: an AI agent logged in, found vulnerabilities, and modified personal data.

Spain's Agencia Espanola de Proteccion de Datos (AEPD) disclosed on September 14 what it calls the country's first agentic AI-powered personal data breach. An agent using a known language model scanned generic files to log in, then autonomously searched for application vulnerabilities, modified personal data, and accessed invoices. AEPD said the agent was used as an instrument to chain attack phases, implying deliberate use by a threat actor rather than a rogue model. CybaVerse CTO Simon Phillips suggested the actor likely jailbreaked or bypassed the model's guardrails.

GoldFactory Weaponizes Open-Source Vwork App Cloner in Gigabud Banking Malware Attacks

Group-IB says GoldFactory's Gigabud Android trojan uses Vwork, a weaponized Shelter fork, to clone banking apps into isolated Work Profiles and evade bank-side detection.

Group-IB's 'Hook for Gold' investigation found GoldFactory ships Vwork, a modified fork of the open-source Shelter app, alongside its Gigabud Android banking trojan, active since 2022. Vwork abuses Android Work Profile provisioning to clone banking apps into an isolated environment, weakening the link between detected malware signals and fraudulent transactions. Gigabud has targeted victims in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and beyond via fake airline, tax, and government apps requesting Accessibility and overlay permissions. In Indonesia, telemetry recorded about 1,469 compromised devices and roughly $960,939 in estimated losses between February and July 2026.

iAuthFlow v2: The $10,000 Phishing Toolkit That Survives Your Password Reset

Abnormal Security details iAuthFlow v2, a $10,000 phishing kit that enrolls attacker-controlled passkeys on Google accounts, persisting through password resets.

Abnormal Security analyzed iAuthFlow v2, a phishing toolkit sold on a Russian-language cybercrime forum for a $10,000 base price with additional capability modules sold separately. Using a browser-in-the-middle relay behind a trycloudflare.com subdomain with valid TLS, it captures Google logins and uses the authenticated session to enroll an attacker-controlled passkey within six seconds of login. Because the passkey persists after password changes and session revocation, operators regain mailbox access even after victims reset credentials. The build examined targets Google, while the seller advertises versions for Microsoft, iCloud, and LinkedIn.
