TypeSafe AI, founded by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, released its first 'System One Model' called Jev in early access. UK Council Attack Linked to Mass Exploitation of SonicWall Flaw

Hunt.io links, with moderate confidence, the July 17, 2026 attack on the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk to mass exploitation of SonicWall SMA1000 appliances via CVE-2026-15409, an unauthenticated SSRF in the WorkPlace portal WebSocket proxy with CVSS 10.0. The operator adapted Rapid7's July 15 PoC into a 50-thread mass scanner within days and stole LDAP credentials for 534 Active Directory accounts across 160 domains, with nine environments losing SAM/LSA secrets and five losing full AD databases via DCSync. CISA added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog and noted use in ransomware campaigns; targeting of ~200,000 Shodan-derived SonicWall addresses spanned government, healthcare, finance, universities, and manufacturing worldwide.

Ukraine moves to crack down on scam call centers after corruption scandal

Ukraine's parliament passed legislation criminalizing fraudulent call centers with 7-12 year prison terms after a bribery scandal implicating prosecutors.

Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada passed legislation making electronic-communications fraud and organizing or working for fraudulent call centers separate crimes punishable by 7-12 years, awaiting President Zelensky's signature. The bill advanced after NABU alleged prosecutors took bribes since mid-2025 to shield scam call centers; five suspects were named and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who denies wrongdoing, was dismissed by parliament and presidential decree. Ukrainian authorities previously reported 411 searches and 94 suspected call centers shut down in one week, including a Kyiv operation that stole over $500,000 from dozens of Americans.

Flock cameras are riddled with security vulnerabilities and hardcoded creds

Leaked Flock ALPR camera firmware reveals EOL Android 8.1, a 2017 Linux kernel, and hardcoded API keys granting access to production credentials.

DDoSecrets published filesystem images from an in-use Flock ALPR camera, obtained by the hacker collective stegan0gram and investigated by 404 Media and Wired. Micah Lee's analysis shows the camera runs Android 8.1 with a security patch level of 2018-06-05 and Linux kernel 3.18.71, missing roughly eight years of Android fixes. The firmware exposes a hardcoded API key for Flock's hpnotiq backend that can retrieve Auth0 client credentials for any camera by MAC address, with credentials stored in plaintext. Likely unpatched flaws include CVE-2021-1905 (Qualcomm Adreno use-after-free) and CVE-2018-9568 (WrongZone kernel socket type confusion); Flock says it received no reports via its disclosure policy.

Data Broker Radaris Loses Domains in Privacy Fight

A New Jersey court ordered people-search broker Radaris to transfer radaris.com and a dozen related domains to Atlas Data Privacy over Daniel's Law violations.

On August 26, a New Jersey judge found Radaris failed to defend claims that it violated Daniel's Law, which protects law enforcement officials' personal data and imposes $1,000 fines per ignored removal request. The court ordered radaris.com and more than a dozen related broker domains transferred to plaintiff Atlas Data Privacy Corp. Radaris had delayed litigation using offshore shell entities and previously used a fictitious CEO named 'Gary Norden' in investor-facing press releases.
