JFrog disclosed CVE-2026-90894, a 7.8-rated local privilege escalation in Parallels Desktop for Mac, patched only in version 27, which Intel Macs cannot install.

JFrog researcher Yuval Moravchick disclosed CVE-2026-90894 (dubbed ParaShells, CVSS 7.8), a local privilege escalation in Parallels Desktop for Mac that lets non-admin users run code as root. The root-level prl_disp_service listens on a world-writable socket, and argument injection into a tar command via QProcess::splitCommand and the --use-compress-program option yields code execution as root, demonstrated on Parallels Desktop 26.4.0 build 57513 on Apple silicon. The fix appears in version 27.0.0, but Parallels Desktop 27 requires Apple silicon, leaving Intel Macs on the 26.x line with no build JFrog describes as fixed. No exploitation in the wild has been reported and Parallels has not published a statement.

SK Hynix reportedly in talks with Intel to build memory chips in US

SK Hynix is reportedly negotiating with Intel to manufacture memory chips in the US, possibly leasing space at Intel's Ohio fab.

Reuters reports SK Hynix and Intel have discussed SK Hynix producing RAM in the US for the first time, including leasing space at Intel's planned Ohio factory or forming a joint venture that could include cloud-service providers; SK Hynix says nothing is finalized. The company is already building a $3.8 billion AI chip packaging and research facility in West Lafayette, Indiana, with mass production expected to begin in 2029, amid surging HBM demand from AI data centers. The potential deal could face a South Korean government review over transfers of strategically important chip technology, and follows Intel's 2020 sale of its NAND flash business to SK Hynix for $9 billion.

Former Infosys chief’s AI startup nabs another $53M

Hang Ten Systems, founded by ex-Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka, added $53 million to its seed round, bringing total funding to $85 million.

The new round was led by Temasek's early-stage platform Xora with Mayfield participating, closing five weeks after the initial $32 million seed. Founded in May 2026, the Palo Alto startup advises enterprises with over $10 billion in annual revenue on AI strategy and builds production software using its in-house Hobie framework of reusable AI skills. It works with 21 major enterprises including Fresenius Kabi, Saudi Aramco, and Siemens Energy, and plans to expand engineering, consulting, and sales teams.

China-Aligned Hackers Hide PeckBirdy Malware C2 Inside Casino and Adult Websites

Infoblox found China-aligned actors hiding PeckBirdy malware C2 inside fake Chinese-language casino and adult websites, evading security scans via service workers and WebSockets.

Infoblox reported that China-aligned actors behind the PeckBirdy JScript C2 framework conceal command-and-control inside low-quality Chinese-language casino and adult websites, extending Trend Micro's earlier findings that tied the framework to backdoors including MKDOOR and HOLODONUT. One decoy, vip311[.]cc, embedded JavaScript linked to cache-mcp[.]com and registered a service worker connecting to mcp-source[.]online over WebSocket; at publication mcp-source[.]online had zero VirusTotal detections, showing how the layered design evades conventional scanning. The campaign has been active since at least 2023, and just over 3% of Infoblox enterprise customers resolved at least one PeckBirdy C2 domain, with education, IT, banking and government among observed sectors.
