CaMeLoT: CaMeL orchestrated with Temporal logic for static verification and liveness

Researchers present CaMeLoT, extending CaMeL with CTL model checking that statically rejects unsafe LLM agent plans before any tool executes.

CaMeLoT adds a static verification layer to CaMeL, a runtime defense against prompt injection in tool-using LLM agents. It translates a generated plan into a finite-state transition system, labels it with tool calls, provenance, and taint information, and checks it against CTL temporal policies using the nuXmv model checker before any tool is invoked. Failed checks return counterexamples for plan repair, avoiding LLM calls, tool calls, and sandbox teardown. Evaluation covers policies derived from AgentDojo, SOC workflows, and prompt-extraction experiments.

Social Laws for Multi-agent Coordination in Stochastic Environments

Researchers extend social laws to stochastic, reward-based multi-agent environments, defining alpha-robustness and a verification method via Markov decision processes.

The paper extends the concept of social laws from deterministic, goal-based settings to stochastic, reward-based multi-agent environments. It introduces alpha-robustness, a measure of the guaranteed utility each agent retains while pursuing its optimal single-agent policy assuming all agents obey the social law. Robustness verification is reduced to solving a series of Markov decision processes, with empirical evaluations on toy environments.

DeepSeek-v4.1 Flash: Pushing the Limits of KV Cache Compression

DeepSeek-V4.1 Flash is a 552B-parameter multimodal MoE model with 1M-token context achieving 4x KV cache compression for long-horizon agent workloads.

A detailed analysis of the DeepSeek-V4.1 Flash technical report describes a 552B-parameter multimodal mixture-of-experts model supporting contexts up to 1 million tokens. Its Causal Encoder-Decoder (CED) architecture activates 8B parameters during prefill and 16B during decode, and reportedly delivers about 420 tokens/s. Joint optimization of architecture (CSA2 cross-layer compression), FP4 KV cache precision, and deployment strategy cuts runtime KV cache to roughly 1/4 and persistent KV cache to about 1/8 of DeepSeek-V4-Flash at the same sequence length, targeting storage and bandwidth bottlenecks in long-horizon agent serving. The author notes all DeepSeek-V4 Pro models were taken offline following the release.

What's Scarier Than Agents Taking over Internet? CEO Cartel Trying Take over AI

Opinion essay argues Dario Amodei's proposals for embedded evaluators and frontier AI coordination would require antitrust waivers and entrench a large-lab cartel.

The author critiques Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's proposal for embedded evaluators inside AI labs, democratic coordination on safety standards and pacing, and global coordination with authoritarian governments. He argues such coordination requires loosening antitrust law, burdening startups while shielding incumbents like Anthropic, OpenAI, and xAI, and doubts verifiable global pacing given enormous defection incentives. The piece links lab motivations to data center subsidy pushback, competition from open-source and low-cost Chinese models, and upcoming IPO financial disclosures.

Anthropic and OpenAI want to embed safety evaluators. Will they really be independent?

Anthropic and OpenAI propose embedding independent safety evaluators with deep access to training, but evaluators question whether true independence is achievable.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei proposed embedding third-party evaluators like METR and Redwood Research inside frontier AI labs with access to training checkpoints, and OpenAI's Sam Altman said his company would also commit to the practice. Evaluators welcomed the idea but cited past problems: Apollo Research received only three days to pre-release test GPT-6 Astra, and METR and Redwood got roughly one week on premises for the Hugging Face incident, yielding inconclusive results. Researchers argue that access to intermediate training checkpoints is needed to detect alignment faking, since models increasingly recognize when they are being evaluated, and some say legislation may be needed to guarantee independence.

AgentLSD: Evaluating AI Security Agents Under Adversarial Task Contamination

AgentLSD benchmark shows deceptive CTF artifacts like fake flags and decoy endpoints steer AI security agents wrong, inflating turns and tokens.

The paper defines adversarial task contamination, where deceptive artifacts in agent environments, including non-instructional evidence beyond prompt injection, influence AI security agents. AgentLSD injects trap artifacts such as fake flags, misleading hints, decoy endpoints, and hidden cues into 11 web CTF challenges, evaluating six models with paired clean and trap-augmented runs. Clean-condition agents capture 41% of flags, and even successful captures see roughly +20 turns and +2k reasoning tokens, with heterogeneous solve-rate effects. The framework, configurations, and traces are released.

Analog Pin Directionality as an Exfiltration Attack Surface in Mixed-Signal ICs

Researchers demonstrate exfiltration through nominally input-only analog pins in mixed-signal ICs, recovering data at 10 kbps on a 55nm PPG front-end.

The paper identifies a directionality-based attack class in analog/mixed-signal (AMS) ICs where data-dependent circuit-offset modulation converts a nominally input-only pin into an outbound information channel. Three host conditions enable the attack: a closed-loop amplifier, an exposed amplifier input, and sufficiently high impedance at that pin. Silicon validation on a photoplethysmography analog front-end in 55nm CMOS showed exfiltration at up to 10 kbps with error-free PRBS recovery, under 0.001% area overhead, and only 0.03 dB SNR reduction.

AI agent authorization risks remain a gap in new NIST-CISA token security guidance

NIST and CISA release IR 8587 guidance on securing signed tokens, but AI agent authorization and delegation risks remain out of scope.

NIST, with CISA support, published 'Protecting Tokens and Assertions from Forgery, Theft, and Misuse' (NIST IR 8587), recommending continuous monitoring and tighter token lifecycle controls for SSO and API access. The guidance does not yet fully address AI agent identity, delegation chains, or prompt injection steering agents with valid tokens, and NIST says new or expanded standards are needed. Experts recommend treating AI agents as low-trust non-human identities, maintaining agent inventories, expiring credentials after task completion, and requiring human approval for high-risk actions. The report references shared-signal mechanisms like CAEP and RISC, and follows a May incident where a CISA contractor GitHub repository exposed AWS and GitHub tokens.

Political opposites unite in Washington to rein in AI

Bipartisan figures including Sanders and Bannon urge AI limits as OpenAI backs the FRONTIER Act creating the first federal AI safety framework.

At the Future of Life Institute's Pro-Human Assembly in Washington, Bernie Sanders and Steve Bannon both called for tighter AI limits, an unusual bipartisan alignment. OpenAI told Politico it supports the FRONTIER Act introduced by Representatives Jay Obernolte and Lori Trahan, which would create the first federal AI safety framework and require independent verification organizations for labs above high revenue and compute thresholds. Sanders proposed pausing data center construction, while Bannon favors a presidential executive order over legislation, and the White House opposes these measures.

Echo: Learning-based Matching Decompilation using Trusted Back Translation

Researchers introduce Echo, a matching decompiler using trusted back-translation that roughly doubles exact-match rates and outperforms GPT-5.6 and Codex on Mirai.

Echo performs matching decompilation by using compilation as trusted feedback for iterative search: a domain-specific model generates candidate code and compilation configurations, which are recompiled, compared at assembly level, and repaired via rule-based rewriting, neural refinement, and reasoning-based refinement. On function-level benchmarks, Echo produces 2.43x more exact matches than the strongest baseline and the highest structural similarity to ground truth. On the Mirai malware binary, it matches 2.75x and 7.4x as many functions as GPT-5.6 and Codex, respectively.

Using Cyber Decoys to Strengthen Detection and Response

CISA released guidance on cyber decoys—tripwires, breadcrumbs, honeytokens—to help defenders detect adversaries using valid credentials and living-off-the-land techniques.

CISA published guidance to help defensive teams of varying maturity plan and implement cyber decoys—assets that mimic legitimate systems, accounts, or data, such as tripwires, breadcrumbs, and honeytokens—to detect adversaries using legitimate credentials and living-off-the-land techniques. The guidance frames decoys as complementing Zero Trust by producing high-fidelity alerts, reducing alert fatigue, and exposing post-compromise activity like discovery, lateral movement, and data access. It maps decoy operations to the MITRE Engage and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks with low-complexity implementation steps.

Robot Visions: Breaking reCAPTCHA at Zero Cost and Zero Shot

Researchers defeat Google reCAPTCHA using free local models CLIP and OWLv2, achieving 92.6% per-session success at zero cost.

The paper taxonomizes Google reCAPTCHA challenges into Type A (independent tiles) and Type B (4x4 grid) and builds zero-shot, training-free solvers from open-source local models. CLIP solves 58% of Type A challenges and OWLv2 43.5% of Type B, while an end-to-end automated solver succeeds on 92.6% of 500 real-world sessions. The authors also show a non-technical adversary can solve challenges using natural-language instructions to a commodity AI assistant, collapsing the attacker skill floor and suggesting visual challenge CAPTCHAs have reached the end of their useful life.
