ZDI-26-682: Linux Kernel IPv6 Neighbour Discovery Uninitialized Memory Information Disclosure Vulnerability

ZDI discloses an uninitialized-memory flaw in Linux kernel IPv6 neighbor discovery (CVE-2026-43040, CVSS 6.0) allowing information disclosure by already-privileged local attackers.

ZDI advisory ZDI-26-682 describes an uninitialized memory vulnerability in the Linux kernel's IPv6 Neighbour Discovery code, tracked as CVE-2026-43040 with a CVSS score of 6.0. Exploitation requires the attacker to already execute high-privileged code on the target, which severely limits practical impact to kernel memory information disclosure. No active exploitation is mentioned.

ZDI-26-683: Linux Kernel IPv6 VTI Subsystem Use-After-Free Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability

ZDI discloses CVE-2026-72463, a CVSS 7.5 use-after-free in the Linux Kernel IPv6 VTI subsystem enabling privilege escalation.

ZDI-26-683 covers a use-after-free in the Linux Kernel IPv6 VTI subsystem that allows local attackers to escalate privileges. Exploitation requires first obtaining the ability to execute high-privileged code on the target system, limiting practical impact. ZDI assigned a CVSS rating of 7.5 and CVE-2026-72463.

MacOS 27 - First Boot, (Tue, Sep 15th)

SANS ISC documents the expected network traffic macOS 27 'Golden Gate' generates on first boot to help defenders baseline their networks.

Johannes Ullrich of SANS Internet Storm Center captured roughly 300 packets from a macOS 27 'Golden Gate' system before user login, covering DHCP, IPv6 duplicate address discovery, DNS, and TCP behavior. macOS 27 resolves hostnames like albert.apple.com (device activation, certificate-pinned), push messaging hosts, and ipv4only.arpa for NAT64 networks. The OS still uses a TCP window scale of 6, ECN, and random timestamps, with only four TCP connections observed during boot. The analysis provides a reference baseline for security teams monitoring Apple endpoints.

Flock cameras are riddled with security vulnerabilities and hardcoded creds

Leaked Flock ALPR camera firmware reveals EOL Android 8.1, a 2017 Linux kernel, and hardcoded API keys granting access to production credentials.

DDoSecrets published filesystem images from an in-use Flock ALPR camera, obtained by the hacker collective stegan0gram and investigated by 404 Media and Wired. Micah Lee's analysis shows the camera runs Android 8.1 with a security patch level of 2018-06-05 and Linux kernel 3.18.71, missing roughly eight years of Android fixes. The firmware exposes a hardcoded API key for Flock's hpnotiq backend that can retrieve Auth0 client credentials for any camera by MAC address, with credentials stored in plaintext. Likely unpatched flaws include CVE-2021-1905 (Qualcomm Adreno use-after-free) and CVE-2018-9568 (WrongZone kernel socket type confusion); Flock says it received no reports via its disclosure policy.

Phishing Attacks Abuse Trusted Email Infrastructure and URL Cloaking to Evade Security Filters

VBSpam Q3 2026 test shows phishers abusing DKIM-aligned domains, Amazon SES, and multi-stage URL cloaking to defeat email filters.

Virus Bulletin's Q3 2026 VBSpam test (AMTSO-LS1-TP207) found phishing campaigns moving payloads past the email itself via browser-fingerprinting gates, redirect chains, and hidden POST requests. Examples include a Dutch McAfee/TotalAV scareware renewal scam, a German overdue-payment Web3 fraud delivered via Amazon SES from DKIM-aligned moolaah.com, and Romanian BCR PSD2 credential phishing embedding IPv6-mapped URLs resolving to 103.193.179.223. Net at Work NoSpamProxy ranked first with a 99.995 score while open-source Rspamd caught only 62.55% of phishing mail.

Hackers Actively Exploit Critical WooCommerce Plugin Vulnerability to Upload PHP Backdoors

Attackers actively exploit CVE-2026-27540 (CVSS 9.8) in WooCommerce Wholesale Lead Capture plugin to upload PHP webshells; patch shipped in version 2.0.3.2.

CVE-2026-27540 (CVSS 9.8) in the WooCommerce Wholesale Lead Capture plugin affects versions 2.0.3.1 and earlier across roughly 6,000 active installations. The unauthenticated AJAX handler wwlc_file_upload_handler trusts a client-supplied file_settings allowlist, letting attackers upload shell.php for remote code execution. Wordfence has blocked more than 100,000 exploit attempts since disclosure, with spikes in June, July, and August 2026. The vendor fixed the flaw in version 2.0.3.2.

Debian 13.7 ships the fixes behind 92 security advisories, updates 106 packages

Debian 13.7 'trixie' point release bundles 92 security advisories and 106 package updates, including kernel, glibc, u-boot and qemu fixes.

Debian shipped version 13.7 of 'trixie', folding in 92 previously published security advisories and corrections to 106 source packages, including six Linux kernel advisories (DSA-6381, DSA-6393, DSA-6405, DSA-6415, DSA-6466, DSA-6477). glibc fixes a buffer overflow (CVE-2026-5928) and buffer underflow (CVE-2026-5450), with 17 packages rebuilt against the updated library; qemu carries 25 CVEs including a secure boot bypass (CVE-2026-16288), imagemagick 24, wolfssl 15 and perl 13. Boot-chain fixes include a u-boot FIT image verification bypass (CVE-2026-46728), a BOOTP/DHCP buffer overread (CVE-2024-42040), and corrected intermediate certificate verification in sbsigntool. The installer was rebuilt with kernel ABI 6.12.107+deb13, and existing systems receive the fixes through normal package mirror updates.
