TasmScan: Continuation-Aware Taint Analysis for TVM Bytecode with Savelist Abstraction

TasmScan introduces source-free taint analysis for TON smart-contract bytecode, detecting 95.3% of defects with 96.8% precision and 17x speedup.

TasmScan is the first bytecode-level static analysis framework for the TON Virtual Machine, enabling cross-continuation data flow reasoning without source code by modeling savelist semantics through forward register analysis with formal over-approximation guarantees. It lifts bytecode into a typed intermediate representation (TASIR) and performs path-sensitive taint analysis. On a 208-contract benchmark with human-confirmed ground truth it detects 95.3% of defects across five classes at 96.8% precision, and resolves 294,546 dynamic continuation targets with 100% precision across 2,921 registry contracts. It achieves a 17x median speedup over symbolic-execution baselines.

Subgroup Packing for Batched PASTA Transciphering

Interleaved subgroup packing cuts PASTA homomorphic transciphering server cost by a median 1.60x at the expense of remaining noise capacity.

The paper studies how record word layout affects the cost of PASTA transciphering, where a server converts symmetrically encrypted records into homomorphic ciphertexts. A subgroup layout interleaves records so cyclic shifts preserve positions, reducing required displacements from 255 to 128 versus contiguous packing. In HElib across twelve paired corpora under six homomorphic keys, the median direct-to-subgroup server cost ratio is 1.60 including fresh generation, conversion, and two queries, but with less remaining noise capacity.

LACE: Layer-Wise Compression for Dynamic Frame Rate Codecs

LACE introduces layer-wise compression for dynamic frame rate audio codecs, cutting sequence lengths and speeding TTS inference while preserving quality.

LACE (Layer-Adaptive Codec Encoding) applies an independent compression step at each quantization layer of a neural audio codec, enabling layer-specific segmentation boundaries instead of shared ones. Union alignment and boundary anchor mechanisms keep durations consistent for downstream text-to-speech. On LibriTTS, LACE achieves a better rate-quality tradeoff than prior dynamic frame rate codecs and improves TTS inference efficiency at competitive synthesis quality. Code is released in the ESPnet3 codec recipe.

How Lossless Is Lossless Speculative Decoding? The Role of Numerical Precision in Orthrus

Reproduction study finds Orthrus speculative-decoding trajectories match the reference model in only ~45% of cases under BF16, but 100% under FP32.

Researchers independently reproduced Orthrus, a hybrid autoregressive-diffusion architecture claiming lossless speculative decoding via intra-model consensus, testing exact trajectory matching on 1,190 prompts across 12 domains. Under BF16, exact matching occurred in only 45% of cases for the authors' checkpoint and 43% for an independently trained model, with matching probability strongly tied to reference-model response-conditional perplexity. Despite trajectory divergence, downstream lm-eval-harness benchmarks showed no systematic degradation, while FP32 evaluation yielded exact matching on all prompts.

Rare Not Random Using Token Efficiency for Secrets Scanning

Researcher proposes token efficiency (string length divided by BPE token count) as a better post-regex filter than entropy for secrets scanning, validated on CredData.

The post explores whether Byte-Pair Encoding tokenization can replace Shannon entropy as the primary filter for candidate secrets captured by regex in tools like Gitleaks. It defines 'token efficiency' as string length divided by token count under the cl100k_base tokenizer; secret-like strings such as GitHub tokens tokenize into many small tokens and score low, while natural text scores high. Evaluating labeled secrets from the CredData dataset shows a usable separation, with roughly 2.5 suggested as a minimum cutoff versus Gitleaks' 3.5 entropy threshold. The technique is positioned as a post-regex filtering step rather than a standalone detector.

Robust Coverless Linguistic Steganography via Sentence Embedding Space with Global Resynchronization

Researchers propose a coverless steganographic framework encoding messages as hierarchical clustering paths in sentence embedding space with a Global Resynchronization Mechanism for robustness.

An arXiv paper proposes encoding secret messages as hierarchical clustering paths in the sentence embedding space rather than token space, improving decoding stability against word- and sentence-level textual perturbations. A Global Resynchronization Mechanism (GRM) reframes variable-length bitstreams as discrete symbols anchored to semantic subspaces to prevent bit-slippage. Experiments show substantial robustness improvements while maintaining embedding capacity and resistance to statistical analysis.

The Semantic Bottleneck: Leveraging Semantic Representations for Non-Invasive Speech Decoding

Researchers introduced Brain2Semantics2Text, decoding sentence meaning from non-invasive MEG brain recordings via a semantic bottleneck, improving on prior Brain2Text methods.

The paper proposes Brain2Semantics2Text, a non-invasive speech decoding method that maps sentence-level magnetoencephalography (MEG) responses into a semantic embedding space and inverts those embeddings into natural language. Motivated by evidence that high-level semantic representations are distributed across cortex and evolve on slower timescales, the approach targets meaning rather than phonemes or words, avoiding the need for word-level alignment. The authors report improved sentence-level results compared to prior non-invasive Brain2Text methods despite the low signal-to-noise ratio of neural recordings.

Memory-Efficient Designs for Word-Wise Universal Fully Homomorphic Encryption

BXT framework mitigates FHE memory bottlenecks via ciphertext compression, serialization, delayed seeding, and digit pruning, achieving up to 3.8x CNN inference speedup.

A new paper proposes BXT, an optimization framework for word-wise Universal Fully Homomorphic Encryption that targets the memory bottleneck rather than compute. It combines four techniques: ciphertext compression via seed regeneration, bit-packed ciphertext serialization for L2-to-L1 transfers, delayed PRNG-heavy offline seed generation across aggregated operations, and fault-aware ciphertext digit pruning. On CNN inference, the BXT-CSO50 configuration achieves up to 3.8x speedup over a 100x GPU baseline with under 1% accuracy loss at 50% comparison precision.

Grouped Value Attention: Efficient KV Caching via On-Demand Key Reconstruction

Grouped Value Attention stores grouped values and reconstructs content keys via a learned linear map, cutting KV-cache size about 45-47% versus GQA.

GVA stores only grouped values and reconstructs content keys with a learned linear map absorbed into the query at decode time, while a small shared decoupled RoPE channel preserves positional information via a separately cached positional key. At 350M parameters trained on 30B FineWeb-Edu tokens, the 16-dimensional positional variant scores 44.18 average accuracy across five tasks versus 44.36 for GQA and 43.88 for MLA. Custom decoding kernels are in development with an open-source release planned.

No Bit Left Behind: Using Brute-Force Lifting to Achieve Fully Static Binary Recompilation

Prototype binary lifter brute-force lifts every byte offset of x86-64 binaries to LLVM IR, enabling fully static cross-ISA recompilation without runtime support.

The paper presents a fully static, whole-program binary lifting system that treats every byte offset as a potential branch target, constructing a superset control flow graph that conservatively contains all feasible control flows. Statically unresolvable computed branches are reduced to lookups in a dispatch table pointing to translated control flow paths, eliminating runtime translation machinery on the target machine. A prototype recompiles x86-64 binaries to LLVM IR with no code/data heuristics and achieves fully static cross-compilation to AArch64 using unmodified LLVM backends.

Proximity Gaps for Gabidulin Codes and Applications

Researchers prove proximity-gap bounds for rank-metric and Gabidulin codes, enabling the first polynomial commitment scheme framework based on rank-metric error-correcting codes.

The paper proves every linear rank-metric code admits a proximity gap for deltas up to (d-1)/(3n) with error at most q^(e+1)/q^m, and improves the gap to (d-1)/(2n) for Gabidulin codes with error at most 10q^(n-1)/q^m, matching bounds for Reed-Solomon codes. A constructed infinite family of constant-rate Gabidulin codes shows the (d-1)/(2n) bound is tight, and a counterexample establishes a lower bound on the error at the d/(3n) gap. Applications include an IOPP for interleaved Gabidulin codes adapted from the Ligero IOPP and a q-linearized polynomial commitment scheme adapted from Ligero-based PCS, reportedly the first PCS framework based on rank-metric codes.

A Princeton Researcher Proposes Recurrent Looped Transformer (RLT) that Carries Decoder State across Every Token, Fixing 96 Blocks per Token with Unbounded Temporal Depth

Princeton researcher Yifan Zhang proposes Recurrent Looped Transformer, carrying full decoder state across every token for unbounded temporal depth.

Yifan Zhang's technical report defines the Recurrent Looped Transformer (RLT), pairing a causal encoder with a recurrent decoder whose final output and layerwise sliding-window attention cache carry into every subsequent token with no prompt-response boundary reset. The reference configuration ties 48 encoder and 48 decoder layers, executing 96 logical blocks per token while the state path grows to 48t blocks after t tokens at fixed per-token compute. The report details RL replay contracts that rebuild all states under current parameters and exact prefix snapshots for multi-turn serving, but explicitly reports no measured efficiency, reasoning quality, or scaling results.

Hardware Fingerprinting FTQC via Quantum Decoder Timing

Quantum decoder timing on IBM Heron processors forms a side channel enabling device fingerprinting with 89% accuracy and workload inference.

The work demonstrates that wall-clock syndrome-decoding times on fault-tolerant quantum computers constitute a novel hardware side channel. Using per-shot decoder timings from three IBM Heron processors collected over 68 days, a passive observer can reconstruct detector-firing distributions, estimate logical error rate, infer code distance, and fingerprint the specific device with up to 89% accuracy versus 33% for random guessing. Noisy simulation based on Google's 105-qubit Willow processor distinguishes nine surface-code patches at 81% accuracy, showing the channel persists across vendors and code families.

Dependency-Aware ROM/CBD Correctness Bounds for ML-KEM-768 at the Heuristic Failure Scale

Researchers certify a dependency-preserving upper bound of 2^-164.81 on honest decapsulation failure for ML-KEM-768 within an explicit ROM/CBD abstraction.

The paper models ML-KEM-768's domain-separated public-matrix streams as independent uniform ring elements and secret polynomials as CBD2 primitives, explicitly not claiming an information-theoretic result about the fixed SHAKE instantiation in FIPS 203. It preserves dependencies from the public matrix and both ciphertext-compression terms, using a graph-coupled reference, a proper-ideal bivariate Fourier transport, and a 256-coordinate union bound. The certified bound is Pr[K' != K] <= 2^-164.81, with the exponent 164.8107162... exceeding the 164.81 threshold by only about 0.0007162 bits; 164.82 is not certified. The bound applies to messages fixed independently of the randomness under honest encryption and decapsulation, and is not an exact DFR, a fixed-SHAKE equivalence, or a new IND-CCA reduction.

Studying Image Tokenizers as Visual Languages in Unified Multimodal Models

A controlled pure-autoregressive testbed shows task-specific validation losses rank image tokenizers differently, with I2T loss the most consistent signal.

Researchers built a controlled pure-autoregressive testbed and tracked task-specific validation losses during multimodal continual pretraining across text, image, text-to-image (T2I), and image-to-text (I2T) prediction. They find losses should be analyzed per task because they exhibit distinct scaling behavior and rank tokenizers differently, and that the loss-performance relationship depends on the predicted token space. I2T loss, computed over a shared text vocabulary, correlates consistently with both generation and visual understanding performance after supervised finetuning. Case studies revisit the discriminator, semantic supervision, and vocabulary size as tokenizer design axes.

Studying Image Tokenizers as Visual Languages in Unified Multimodal Models

A controlled autoregressive testbed shows validation losses must be analyzed per task, and image tokenizer choice affects joint multimodal text modeling.

Researchers built a pure-autoregressive testbed to study image tokenizers as the 'visual language' of unified multimodal models, tracking task-specific validation losses during multimodal continual pretraining across text, image, text-to-image (T2I), and image-to-text (I2T) prediction. They found that losses exhibit distinct scaling behavior per task and rank tokenizers differently, and that I2T loss over a shared text vocabulary gives a more consistent loss–performance signal than T2I loss. Better reconstruction does not necessarily yield lower task-specific losses or stronger downstream performance, and tokenizer choice can affect text modeling under joint optimization. Case studies examine the discriminator, semantic supervision, and vocabulary size design axes.

GAUGE: A Formal Framework for Measuring Cryptographic Security under Heterogeneous Adversary Cost Models

GAUGE frames cryptographic security as profiles over adversary cost models, certifying a ranking reversal between ML-KEM-512 and AES-128 from a 4–5% memory pricing shift.

GAUGE represents cryptographic security as a function over admissible adversary cost models (a security profile), proves profiles are piecewise-linear and concave, and establishes a rating trilemma when two profiles cross. A polynomial-time linear-programming procedure certifies whether the ranking of two schemes is robust, reverses under admissible models, or is genuinely incomparable. Applied to NIST post-quantum standards, the framework certifies a ML-KEM-512 versus AES-128 ranking reversal from a 4–5% shift in memory pricing and measures lattice-sieving cost drift of 9.79 bits per year over eight years. A hybrid X25519 + ML-KEM-768 handshake reduces combined-break probability twenty-fold at a 2.3 kilobyte cost.

Differential Privacy Meets Fixed Parameter Tractability: Algorithms and Lower Bounds

Theory paper combines differential privacy with fixed-parameter tractable encoders, improving approximation guarantees for combinatorial optimization and proving new lower bounds.

The paper studies combinatorial optimization under epsilon-differential privacy within the implicit encoder-decoder framework of Gupta et al. (SODA 2010), generalizing it to allow fixed-parameter tractable encoders. This circumvents approximation barriers inherent to polynomial-time algorithms and yields improved guarantees for fundamental combinatorial optimization problems. The authors establish the first representation-independent lower bounds: assuming a non-uniform variant of the Gap Exponential Time Hypothesis, no epsilon-DP encoder-decoder pair can achieve certain approximation guarantees with a subexponential-time decoder for sufficiently small epsilon. Representation-dependent lower bounds are also provided for larger epsilon.

Do speech foundation models really learn words?

Researchers show via residualization that later layers of HuBERT and wav2vec 2.0 encode word identity and semantics independently of phonetic content.

The study argues that discriminative ability on words does not imply specialized word representations, since good word discrimination can be explained by phoneme encoding alone. By partialling out phoneme information using residualization, the authors show that later layers of HuBERT and wav2vec 2.0 encode words with reasonable fidelity independently of local phonetic content. Applying this disentanglement approach enhances higher-order linguistic information in word discovery tasks, informing analysis of speech foundation models used for recognition and speech tokens.

The Shared Clipboard Inside the Sandbox: Cross-Account Data Leakage in ChatGPT

Check Point discovers cross-account data leakage in ChatGPT: isolated code-execution containers communicate via shared JFrog Artifactory, enabling covert Gmail exfiltration.

Check Point Research found a covert bidirectional channel between ChatGPT code-execution containers belonging to different accounts, which were supposed to be isolated from each other and the public internet. Both could reach the same internal JFrog Artifactory instance used for package delivery, whose exposed Item Management API allowed a 'shared clipboard' between containers. In a proof of concept, a hidden instruction in a shared conversation made ChatGPT retrieve email data from the victim's connected Gmail account and send it to the attacker's account while the victim received a normal answer. The same channel could exfiltrate conversation history and session files; OpenAI recently described a similar isolation weakness in its postmortem of the Hugging Face incident.

Shuffling is Not Enough: Breaking Permutation-Based Model Confidentiality in Hybrid FHE Inference

Attack breaks permutation-based model confidentiality in hybrid FHE inference, recovering all ResNet-20 linear layers exactly with d+1 queries per layer.

The paper shows output-permutation plus noise fails to protect model confidentiality in hybrid FHE inference: d+1 admissible queries recover an exact permutation-invariant summary of a d-input linear layer, and shuffle-model DP amplification premises cannot hold under correctness-bounded noise. The authors recovered all linear layers of a Safhire-style ResNet-20 end-to-end from TFHE transcripts with zero error, using 5,712 total queries. Exact per-layer recovery was also confirmed on pretrained ImageNet-scale CNNs and ViT-B/16. Leaked layer spectra enable model fingerprinting, lineage attribution, and improved logit-based extraction, while suppressing them destroys inference utility.
