Anthropic exposed a network of roughly 28 AI-driven dating apps using autonomous personas and gig workers to defraud paying users.

Anthropic threat intelligence uncovered a fraud network of around 28 dating apps after a prepaid account sent over 100,000 Claude API requests daily, with most chats run by autonomous AI personas and no human agent. Researchers Matthew Gore-Kormanik and Anthropic's Chris Cronbaugh documented apps including Dora, Romi, and Doni, which monetize conversations via coins; gig workers were hired only to pass liveness checks and select pregenerated replies. An operations manual written in Chinese was found inside the Doni app, and Anthropic published findings in its September 2026 AI misuse report.

Three Ukrainians to face charges for alleged hack of 610,000 Roblox accounts

Ukrainian prosecutors charged three men for stealing session tokens from over 610,000 Roblox accounts and selling them for an estimated $480,000.

Prosecutors in Ukraine's Lviv region said a 19-year-old organizer from Drohobych and two 22-year-old associates operated from May 2025 to April 2026, harvesting Roblox session tokens via infostealer malware disguised as game cheats and bonus software. They used software to validate stolen cookies and inventory virtual currency and rare items, then sold accounts via Russian platforms for as little as $0.80 each, advertising through Telegram channels and receiving crypto payments. All three are in custody facing charges of theft, money laundering, unauthorized computer interference, and illegal sale of restricted information, carrying up to 12 years in prison.

Meta debuts its Muse AI agent. Will consumers trust it?

Meta launched Muse, a consumer AI agent powered by Muse Spark that connects to users' apps to execute tasks like emailing, booking travel, and payments.

Meta introduced Muse, a personal AI agent for US users that connects to email, calendars, payments, shopping, and other services to execute tasks such as booking travel, lowering bills, and completing purchases via Link by Stripe. The agent runs in a dedicated Muse Secure VM with a separate Sentinel agent kept apart at the system level, and Meta claims it cannot see passwords or payment data and does not share conversations with ad systems. Muse is free to start, with Power ($20/month) and Maximum ($100/month) subscription tiers, and is available on the web, iOS, Android, and WhatsApp, with Meta AI glasses support planned. The launch follows Meta's $18 billion multistate consumer-harms settlement and comes as rivals like Gemini Spark and Claude Cowork push agentic AI.

At UBS, AI skills are now a condition for landing a job

UBS will require 2027 graduate and intern applicants in Global Banking to demonstrate AI skills, among the first major banks to do so.

Per the Financial Times, UBS will require candidates for 2027 graduate and internship roles in Global Banking and Markets to show how they use AI to improve outcomes and efficiency, with AI questions included in interviews. The requirement supplements, not replaces, traditional criteria, and Santander is similarly seeking advanced AI users for some trainee programs. Morgan Stanley analysts project more than 200,000 European banking jobs could disappear within five years as routine junior work is automated; UBS is also testing analyst avatars for client presentations.

KindaRails2Shell threatens Ruby on Rails apps (CVE-2026-66066)

Critical CVE-2026-66066 in Rails' Active Storage/libvips allows unauthenticated arbitrary file read and possible RCE; active exploitation now observed.

CVE-2026-66066 (KindaRails2Shell), discovered by Ethiack researchers and independently by RyotaK of GMO Flatt Security, lets attackers upload crafted files that exploit libvips' handling of specialty formats to read arbitrary files, including process environment secrets, potentially escalating to RCE. Default Rails 7.0+ setups using Active Storage with the vips processor are affected before versions 7.2.3.2, 8.0.5.1, and 8.1.3.1; fixes shipped July 29, 2026, with VIPS_BLOCK_UNTRUSTED as a partial mitigation. Proof-of-concept exploits circulated after disclosure, and VulnCheck updated that it observed active exploitation originating from a single French IP establishing C2 to a host in Israel. Akamai deployed WAF rules, but experts stress patching and credential rotation over filtering alone.

Motion-Omni: End-to-End Joint Speech and Full-Body Motion for Spoken Dialogue

Researchers introduce Motion-Omni, an end-to-end model generating speech with synchronized full-body motion, responding 5.4x faster than cascade pipelines.

Motion-Omni is an end-to-end framework in which a spoken dialogue model outputs facial expressions and hand, upper-body, and lower-body motion directly from the hidden states that produce speech, replacing two-stage cascade pipelines. Trained on 422,856 quality-ranked pseudo-labeled pairs (1,402 hours) with a Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct backbone, Motion-Omni-Q7 matches its teacher cascade within 2% on reference-free motion metrics, achieves a 2.62% word error rate, and runs faster than real time (RTF=0.78). The authors also release the SwDA-500 dataset and the first public evaluation protocol for stochastic open-ended full-body spoken dialogue.
