Halo-record: Open-source audit trails for AI agents

Developer Brian Kuan released halo-record, an open-source Python package creating tamper-evident, hash-chained audit logs of AI agent actions.

Halo-record is a roughly 5,300-line Python package with no runtime dependencies that records agent tool calls, model calls, data access and approvals into an append-only, hash-chained log that customers can verify without vendor trust. Adapters ingest records from OpenTelemetry spans, LangChain, MCP servers and gateway logs, with secret and PII values auto-redacted. The author plans to fund the work through a hosted witness service that stores the record count and head hash to prove completeness, citing mandates like AIUC-1, the EU AI Act, and insurers. The article cites the July Hugging Face intrusion, where an autonomous agent took roughly 17,600 actions over five days and manual reconstruction of its activity was impractical.

Chaotic Eclipse Released A PoC For NVIDIA GreenSection Memory Corruption Zero-Day

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse released GreenSection, a PoC exploit for an NVIDIA Windows user-mode shared-memory flaw enabling out-of-bounds writes and potential dwm.exe compromise.

Researcher Chaotic Eclipse (aka Nightmare Eclipse) released a PoC named GreenSection for a zero-day in NVIDIA's Windows user-mode components. Multiple NVIDIA components share a global memory section in BaseNamedObjects with full read/write access to all users; although checks prevent misuse, runtime reuse of section data can cause an out-of-bounds write. The unstable PoC crashes applications using Vulkan or OpenGL and could potentially cross user boundaries or compromise the Windows Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe), though impact was not fully investigated. The researcher recently published similar zero-day PoCs against Kaspersky Endpoint Security, Avast Antivirus, and CrowdStrike Falcon.

Omniscience for the Masses: New Threats in the Metaverse's Democratized World Creation

First systematic assessment of 25 metaverse platforms reveals five novel world-creation attacks enabling covert user surveillance on Roblox, Horizon Worlds, and VRChat.

Researchers present the first systematic security and privacy assessment of metaverse world creators, surveying 25 platforms that support user-created worlds. They designed and implemented five novel attacks that abuse standard creator tools to violate spatial, visual, and auditory constraints, enabling covert user surveillance and manipulation without software vulnerabilities or developer-level privileges. Five previously proposed attacks were replicated using only standard world-creation features. The authors conclude that existing platform vetting, runtime protections, and creator policies are insufficient to mitigate malicious world creators.

Physical AI Takes the Wheel: How the World’s Robotaxi Leaders Are Building With NVIDIA Technologies

NVIDIA details a three-computer robotaxi platform that Uber, Lyft, May Mobility, Mercedes-Benz and others are adopting to scale autonomous fleets.

NVIDIA says every major commercial robotaxi program runs on its stack, spanning training (DGX with Alpamayo VLA models), simulation and validation (Omniverse, Cosmos, AlpaSim on RTX PRO), and in-vehicle compute (DRIVE Hyperion 10 with dual DRIVE AGX Thor chips). Adding meta-action and chain-of-thought reasoning data to a VLA model reduced minimum average displacement error by 43%, from 2.08 to 1.18. Uber plans NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion-based fleets across 28 cities by 2028, partnering with Autobrains, Avride, Lucid, May Mobility, Mercedes-Benz, Momenta, Nissan, Nuro, Pony.ai, Stellantis, Waabi, Wayve, WeRide and Zoox. DRIVE Hyperion 10 combines 14 cameras, nine radars, three lidars and 12 ultrasonics with redundant compute and NVIDIA Halos safety validation.

E4del and PINHOLE RATs Turn FTP Banners Into Dead Drops for Malware Commands

Researchers identified two new RATs, E4del and PINHOLE, using FTP banners as dead drop resolvers to fetch C2 commands via ClickFix-style lures.

SOCRADAR documented two previously unreported RATs, E4del and PINHOLE, that use FTP banners as dead drop resolvers, a first in-the-wild use of this technique. E4del is a Node.js-based RAT hidden in a digitally signed Electron application masquerading as Discord, with tiered-jitter beaconing, reverse shell, screenshot capture and desktop streaming. PINHOLE is more advanced, using Pinterest, SurveyMonkey and Cloudflare Workers for C2 resolution, six layers of unpacking, Halo's Gate EDR evasion and Early Bird APC injection. A related WebDAV delivery chain overlaps with ClearFake campaigns distributing WordlistLoader and Amatera Stealer.

TempCloze: Can Video-LLMs Identify the Missing Middle?

TempCloze benchmark tests Video-LLMs' temporal reasoning with 1,521 videos, finding temporal alignment is the primary failure mode across 31 models.

TempCloze is a video cloze benchmark in which models must identify the true missing middle clip given the beginning and ending clips, using 1,521 carefully filtered videos from seven sources, mostly long-take and egocentric footage. Tracking OceanLotus’ new Downloader, KerrDown

Unit 42 identifies KerrDown, a new OceanLotus (APT32) downloader active since 2018 targeting Vietnamese speakers via malicious macros and DLL side-loading.

Unit 42 tracks KerrDown, a previously undocumented downloader family used by OceanLotus (APT32) since at least early 2018, primarily targeting Vietnam or Vietnamese-speaking individuals. Delivery uses macro-laced Microsoft Office documents embedding base64-encoded 32-bit and 64-bit DLLs, and RAR archives containing a legitimate program abused for DLL side-loading. KerrDown is dropped as main_background.png, downloads a DES-encrypted payload from a URL, and executes it directly in memory. The Pelican comparison grid for Astra is pretty interesting

Simon Willison's pelican SVG comparison shows GPT-6 Astra producing markedly better images than GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna across reasoning levels.

Willison generated pelicans-riding-bicycles SVGs with newly accessed GPT-6 Astra at low through max reasoning levels and rendered them in a comparison grid against GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna. Astra's outputs were markedly more coherent, while even the best GPT-5.6-Sol images remained largely abstract shapes. Astra does not support a reasoning=none setting, so all comparisons involved reasoning-enabled runs.

Evaluating Time-Series Foundation Models and Multimodal Dietary Context for CGM Forecasting

Study finds zero-shot time-series foundation models underperform on CGM forecasting; fine-tuned Chronos-Bolt cuts RMSE up to 18.4% and dietary context adds signal.

The paper evaluates time-series foundation models for continuous glucose monitoring forecasting across eight public datasets covering Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, and non-diabetes populations. Under a unified protocol, zero-shot foundation models did not consistently outperform baselines like Elastic Net and PatchTST, but lightweight fine-tuning did, with fine-tuned Chronos-Bolt reducing RMSE by 6.5%-18.4% in the T1D cohort and 8.6%-18.2% in the non-diabetes/T2D cohort. A residual-based fusion framework adding dietary context from CGMacros reduced overall RMSE by about 3% and postprandial RMSE by about 15% versus CGM-only baselines.
