Critical Issabel PBX Command Execution Vulnerability Exploited in the Wild

Unauthenticated attackers exploit CVE-2026-89026 in Issabel PBX via forged JWT tokens to run OS commands; exploitation observed since September 9.

CVE-2026-89026 (CVSS v4 9.3) stems from a hard-coded HS256 JWT signing key in Issabel Framework's pbxapi/index.php, letting unauthenticated attackers forge bearer tokens and execute OS commands through the Asterisk Manager Interface originate endpoint. Issabel Framework versions before commit b97dbaf0b71c1c36f841e672b664afbeb02773bd are affected. Shadowserver Foundation first observed exploitation on September 9, 2026, and VulnCheck added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities database.

Quoting Rick Brewster

Paint.NET added a clean-room Direct2D rewrite for WINE, largely written by Anthropic's Claude and described as unreviewed 'vibe coded' code.

Rick Brewster says Paint.NET now ships a from-scratch, reverse-engineered Direct2D implementation (PaintDotNet.Windows.Direct2D1.Managed.dll) used under WINE via a /wine flag, since Direct2D was never completed well enough there. He credits the Claude coding assistant with writing most of the code, calling it largely 'vibe coded' and not thoroughly reviewed. Simon Willison shared the quote as an example of shipping AI-assisted systems code in production software.

CVE-2026-86304: MojoX::Authentication versions before 0.006 for Perl allow SAML authentication bypass because parse_assertion builds Net::SAML2::Binding::POST without a trust anchor

MojoX::Authentication before 0.006 for Perl allows SAML authentication bypass because parse_assertion builds Net::SAML2::Binding::POST without a trust anchor (CVE-2026-86304).

CVE-2026-86304 affects MojoX::Authentication versions before 0.006 for Perl. The parse_assertion function builds Net::SAML2::Binding::POST without a trust anchor, so SAML assertions are not validated against a trusted signing key, enabling authentication bypass. The flaw is fixed in version 0.006 of the module.

Perplexity Details Its GPU Embedding Stack: How Ivy, Tulip and ROSE Serve pplx-embed

Perplexity details its GPU embedding serving stack (Ivy, Tulip, ROSE), which reuses LLM prefill/decode kernels, CUDA graphs, and LazyTensors to cut launch overhead.

Perplexity engineers published a deep dive on the serving infrastructure behind pplx-embed, used across Perplexity Search and its API platform. The stack comprises Ivy (Rust HTTP gateway), Tulip (gRPC scheduling and batching), and ROSE (Runtime-Optimized Serving Engine), which reuses LLM prefill and decode kernels rather than running a separate embedding engine. Optimizations include whole-model CUDA graphs with lazy capture and a LazyTensor abstraction that overlaps CPU batch preparation with in-flight GPU work. Benchmarks are reported against vLLM v0.22.0 in BF16, with FlashAttention 4 generally fastest but FlashInfer 3 winning on Qwen-based models at very long sequence lengths.

The VMs Powering Mobile Agents (Instinct, Claude Code)

A teardown reveals Claude Code runs in Firecracker microVMs with a Rust PID 1 and MITM'd egress, while Instinct rents E2B sandboxes with git-based memory.

The author inspects the virtual machines hosting cloud agents: Claude Code runs in a Firecracker microVM with a custom Rust init (process_api) as PID 1, a 324 MB Bun harness on a read-only disk, and 443-only MITM'd SSE egress to api.anthropic.com with host-rotated OAuth tokens and no inbound access. Instinct rents E2B sandbox-as-a-service Firecracker microVMs (Ubuntu 22.04, 2 vCPU, 1.9 GB RAM) where agent memory is a git repo of Markdown committed by the agent and pushed to S3 as a single bundle, using short-lived STS credentials. Both platforms rely on Firecracker, differing mainly in fleet operator and guest boot configuration.

Evidence-Grounded Agentic Formulation Development in an Autonomous Laboratorynew

Andromeda 2, an agentic laboratory system, reaches a 50% high-performance hit rate for paclitaxel SEDDS formulations versus 17% for its predecessor and 2% for DoE.

Andromeda 2 is an agentic system that reasons over structured in-house experimental evidence and invokes computational and experimental tools to design and execute successive formulation batches for self-emulsifying drug delivery systems (SEDDS). For paclitaxel it achieved a 50% high-performance hit rate versus 17% for Andromeda 1 and 2% for a wet-lab DoE campaign, identifying 12 formulations meeting all four target product profile objectives versus 6 and 0. A selected full-TPP formulation reached approximately 19% w/w apparent paclitaxel loading, about 3.3-fold higher than a published paclitaxel S-SEDDS, and an ablation showed structured evidence access increased mean AUC by 34%.

Analog Pin Directionality as an Exfiltration Attack Surface in Mixed-Signal ICsnew

Researchers demonstrate exfiltration through nominally input-only analog pins in mixed-signal ICs, recovering data at 10 kbps on a 55nm PPG front-end.

The paper identifies a directionality-based attack class in analog/mixed-signal (AMS) ICs where data-dependent circuit-offset modulation converts a nominally input-only pin into an outbound information channel. Three host conditions enable the attack: a closed-loop amplifier, an exposed amplifier input, and sufficiently high impedance at that pin. Silicon validation on a photoplethysmography analog front-end in 55nm CMOS showed exfiltration at up to 10 kbps with error-free PRBS recovery, under 0.001% area overhead, and only 0.03 dB SNR reduction.

DianShi-RxnDB: A Large-Scale, Fine-Grained Organic Reaction Data Platform Built via a Fully Automated Pipeline for Researchers and AI Agents

Researchers release DianShi-RxnDB, a database of roughly 24 million organic reaction instances extracted automatically from USPTO and EPO patents since 1976.

DianShi-RxnDB is built by a fully automated pipeline integrating patent text, images, and reaction schemes, yielding about 24 million reaction instances, of which 14.8 million (61.7%) pass automated qualification checks. Manual evaluation of 1,300 sampled instances showed 92.95% field-level accuracy, and comparisons with Pistachio found advantages in deduplicated record counts and granularity. The platform offers a web research workbench and a Model Context Protocol (MCP) service enabling AI agents to perform composable structured retrieval.

AdamX: Cosine similarity meets gradient descent

Researchers propose AdamX, a cosine-similarity-based first-order optimizer with variance rectification that matches Adam-class convergence across benchmark datasets and architectures.

The paper introduces AdamX, a first-order optimizer that uses cosine similarity as an adaptive mechanism for controlling update magnitudes, plus a variance rectification scheme for smoother optimization early in training. The method is described as scalable, model-agnostic, and straightforward to integrate into existing pipelines. Empirically, AdamX shows competitive convergence rates measured by epochs to reach performance thresholds under a fixed hyperparameter budget, with code and experiments released on GitHub.

The Pelican comparison grid for Astra is pretty interesting

Simon Willison's pelican SVG comparison shows GPT-6 Astra producing markedly better images than GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna across reasoning levels.

Willison generated pelicans-riding-bicycles SVGs with newly accessed GPT-6 Astra at low through max reasoning levels and rendered them in a comparison grid against GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna. Astra's outputs were markedly more coherent, while even the best GPT-5.6-Sol images remained largely abstract shapes. Astra does not support a reasoning=none setting, so all comparisons involved reasoning-enabled runs.
