CMMC Hit Pause, the FAR Council Hit Play

DoD paused CMMC Phase 2 pending a 60-day review while a proposed FAR Council rule would extend NIST 800-171 Rev 3 to all federal contractors.

The Department of Defense suspended CMMC Phase 2 third-party certification requirements, but Phase 1 self-assessments under DFARS 252.204-7021 remain in force since November 2025, and prime contractors are still directing suppliers to proceed. A CMMC Reform Task Force must report recommendations to the DoD CIO within 60 days, likely by September or October 2026. Separately, the FAR Council's proposed CUI rule from June 23 would apply NIST 800-171 Revision 3, 72-hour incident reporting, and flowdown obligations to all FAR-based federal contracts, not just the defense industrial base. False Claims Act exposure grows as DIBCAC assessment teams now cooperate directly with the DOJ.

How to Secure Enterprise AI: From Adoption to Incident Readiness

Sygnia-backed guidance urges a lifecycle approach to enterprise AI security, citing survey data that AI adoption is outpacing governance and incident readiness.

The Hacker News published Sygnia-sponsored guidance on securing enterprise AI across its lifecycle, from use-case definition and vendor selection to deployment and incident readiness. It cites Sygnia's 2026 CISO survey of 600 senior leaders: 63% expect AI fully embedded by 2027, 73% say their organization would not be fully ready for a significant cyberattack, and 67% of executives believe unapproved AI tools already caused a breach. The piece highlights shadow AI, ad hoc integrations, and over-permissioned AI agents as key attack surface risks, noting only 38% of organizations report a comprehensive AI policy.

Viggle/Viggle-Animate — new model trending #28 on Hugging Face

Viggle released Viggle-Animate, a 33.1B MiniMax-H3 finetune replacing video characters from one repainted frame, rendering 124 frames in 26 seconds on one GPU.

Viggle-Animate replaces the character in a video using only a driving video and one of its own repainted frames, with no pose estimator, segmentation mask, face tracker, or text encoder. It is a 33.1B full finetune of MiniMax-H3's ref2va transformer, jointly distilled with DMD across two teachers split by noise level, so rendering takes three forward passes per clip. On a B200 GPU it renders 124 frames in 26 seconds, 6.1x faster per clip than Wan2.2-Animate-14B in matched comparisons. The method assumes no person-specific representation, so it generalizes beyond humans; a demo, research write-up, and ComfyUI nodes are available.

dealignai/GLM-5.3-CYBERSECURITY-FP8 — new model trending #13 on Hugging Face

dealignai releases GLM-5.3-CYBERSECURITY-FP8, a 753B MoE weight-modified variant cutting refusals on offensive-security prompts, trending #13.

dealignai released GLM-5.3-CYBERSECURITY-FP8 on Hugging Face, a cybersecurity-domain 'crack' of the 753B-parameter GLM-5.3 MoE model, currently trending #13. The release directly edits bf16 residual writers, keeps FP8 routed experts, and serves with stock vLLM on 8x H200 GPUs with 131k context. HarmBench-320 evaluations show 80-84% direct harm compliance and 89% cyber-offense compliance, while MMLU rose 1.07 points to 86.65%. Copyright-verbatim reproduction remains a known soft-refusal limitation, with an UNCENSORED sibling variant offered.

ISTA-DASLab/Qwen3.8-27B-GSQ-RCO-GGUF — new model trending #3 on Hugging Face

ISTA-DASLab releases GSQ-RCO non-uniform GGUF quantizations of Qwen3.8-27B down to 2.5 bpw, with task-lossless IQ3_S matching BF16 benchmark scores.

ISTA-DASLab released GGUF quantizations of Qwen3.8-27B produced with GSQ (Gumbel-Softmax Quantization) and RCO (Riemannian Constrained Optimization), non-uniform methods that allocate per-tensor precision via gradient-based search under a total size budget. Four checkpoints range from 2.50 bpw (8.4 GB) to 3.50 bpw (11.8 GB), plus a BF16 vision projector (mmproj) enabling multimodal use. The recommended IQ3_S build is task-lossless, matching the BF16 base exactly on AIME25 (100.00) and LiveCodeBench v6 (85.71) at roughly one fifth of the BF16 size. Optional -mtp variants add a Multi-Token Prediction head for speculative decoding in llama.cpp.

XHToken/Spark-X2.5-4B-GGUF — new model trending #30 on Hugging Face

XHToken released GGUF weights of Spark-X2.5-4B, a compact model with 1M-token context and 200+ language support, under Apache 2.0.

The Hugging Face repository provides BF16 GGUF conversions of Spark-X2.5-4B, a compact general-purpose language model for conversation, writing, translation, reasoning, coding, tool use, and agentic workflows. The model uses a hybrid attention architecture, supports a native context length up to 1M tokens, and covers more than 200 languages. Local inference is supported through Ollama and LM Studio via an XHToken llama.cpp fork, with a --think=false flag to disable thinking mode for faster responses. Released under Apache License 2.0; it was trending #30 on Hugging Face at publication.

Can AI make threat intelligence easier? One platform thinks so

Feedly positions its AI-driven Threat Intelligence platform to cut CTI collection time, scanning 10,000+ sources with 1,000 AI models and reporting 70% time savings.

A profile of Feedly Threat Intelligence describes how CTI teams such as RH-ISAC reduced threat data collection from 10 hours weekly to 2-3 hours after adoption. The platform scans over 10,000 open web sources using 1,000 AI models to extract TTPs, CVEs and IoCs into a real-time Threat Graph queryable via an Ask AI LLM with source citations. Customers including GreyNoise, Sopra Steria, gematik and GISA reported measurable gains such as 20 hours saved daily and earlier vulnerability flagging than CISA 65% of the time. The product integrates with Anomali ThreatStream, Cortex XSOAR, Microsoft Sentinel and OpenCTI, plus a REST API and GitHub scripts.

Company Offering ‘100% Human-Written, Never AI’ Medical Research Is Entirely AI

404 Media found Research Gold, advertised as '100% human-written' medical research, is run entirely by AI with fake PhD staff.

Research Gold advertises PRISMA-compliant systematic reviews and meta-analyses drafted by PhD methodologists, but its listed experts are AI-generated personas that do not exist. Real methodologists, including evidence synthesis scientist Jenny Berrio, were listed without permission using photos copied from LinkedIn. Customer calls and quotes were handled by AI agents that insisted they were human, quoting $1,900 for a systematic review.
