Exposed Vite servers are being probed for AWS and Azure credentials

F5 honeypots logged 32,000+ probes against Vite file-access bypass CVE-2026-39364, hunting AWS and Azure credentials on exposed dev servers.

F5 Labs reported 32,000+ scan attempts (807 attack sessions) against exposed Vite servers in August, up from 1,732 attempts over the prior three months. Attackers exploited CVE-2026-39364 (CVSS 8.2), which bypasses Vite's server.fs.deny protection via parameters like ?raw and ?import&raw, affecting Vite 7.1.0 to before 7.3.2 and Vite 8 before 8.0.5. Scanners cycled wordlists for environment files, AWS keys, Azure tokens and IaC state files, also combining older Vite CVEs (2025-30208, 2025-31125, 2024-45811) and probing a Next.js middleware bypass. Only CVE-2025-31125 is currently in CISA's KEV catalog.

Study shows video models often learn correct physics but fail to use it; low-dimensional 'causal writability' edits can restore correct motion.

The paper demonstrates 'causal writability' in video generation models: physically correct motion remains available inside the model even when the model outputs incorrect motion. In a red/blue mass oscillation setup, a low-dimensional edit predicted from simple physical variables restores correct fast motion, with a sharp depth boundary marking commitment. Early causal writability predicts which training errors later get corrected, and both writability and closure reproduce in a pretrained 1.3B video model.

Vercel patched two critical Next.js flaws enabling unauthenticated remote code execution: a heap buffer overflow in libheif's AVIF image scaling (GHSA-2xp9-vwfh-vxw4, CVSS v4 9.5) and a Windows path traversal (CVE-2026-75604, CVSS 9.0). The AVIF flaw affects only sites explicitly enabling AVIF optimization and overwrites roughly 16,384 bytes past the buffer; the path traversal affects Windows-hosted Next.js deployments on versions 13.4-15.5.23 and 16.0-16.3.2. Fixes shipped in Next.js 15.5.24 and 16.3.3 on August 25, 2026, with the AVIF researchers releasing a Python PoC demonstrating RCE on multiple applications. No exploitation had been reported as of August 27, 2026.

Cloudflare's H1 2026 DDoS Threat Report documents record-scale attacks, with a significant increase in campaigns exceeding 1 Tbps and April 2026 peaking at 6.46 trillion requests and 165 PB. Most network-layer attacks stayed small and short — 96.62% under 500 Mbps and 90.60% under 10 minutes — but multi-vector campaigns combining HTTP floods with DNS and CLDAP amplification grew. Operation Epic Fury drove 149 hacktivist DDoS claims against 110 organizations in 16 countries, hitting the government sector hardest, and Brazil overtook the US as the leading attack source country.
