Elementor Pro WordPress Plugin Vulnerability Exploited to Hack Sites

Attackers are actively exploiting critical file-upload flaw CVE-2026-32475 in Elementor Pro, hacking WordPress sites; Defiant has blocked over 190,000 exploit attempts since patching.

Defiant warns that attackers are exploiting CVE-2026-32475 (CVSS 9.8), an unauthenticated arbitrary file upload flaw in the Elementor Pro WordPress plugin's form submission handling, which affects all versions up to 4.2.1 and was patched in version 4.2.2 on August 19. Exploitation began immediately after the fix shipped, with Defiant blocking over 190,000 exploit attempts to date; roughly two-thirds of Elementor's 10 million installations still ran a vulnerable version as of September 4. Successful exploitation writes attacker-controlled PHP files to /wp-content/uploads/elementor/forms/ and can lead to full site compromise; administrators should check that directory for PHP files and review requests to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php.

Exploitation of Sangoma Switchvox flaw is underway (CVE-2026-9586)

Attackers actively exploit SQL injection flaw CVE-2026-9586 in unauthenticated Sangoma Switchvox endpoints, dropping reverse shells and second-stage cryptominer malware.

CVE-2026-9586, an unauthenticated SQL injection in Sangoma Switchvox SMB Edition 8.3, lets crafted HTTP POST requests execute arbitrary SQL against the backend PostgreSQL database. Horizon3 honeypots first saw exploitation on August 30, 2026 from IP 176.65.148.184, and dozens of additional source IPs have since joined with scanning payloads and second-stage malware that appears to be a cryptominer. The flaw was patched in Switchvox 8.4.0.2 on July 14, 2026; roughly 4,000 exposed instances exist, mostly in the United States, and exploitation is likely against most of them.

Weekly ThreatsDay bulletin details a ShinyHunters-style social engineering hit on ReliaQuest, the 296,000-device Dysphoria IoT botnet, and several new malware families.

ReliaQuest confirmed a social engineering attack on August 22, 2026, in which an attacker used a fake SSO page and MFA push approval to gain brief view-only access to an identity dashboard, with tactics matching ShinyHunters, which has since listed the firm on its leak portal. The Shadowserver Foundation reported the Dysphoria botnet has compromised nearly 296,000 IoT devices for DDoS attacks and recently added residential proxy capability. Cisco Talos documented JWR, an operator-driven phishing-as-a-service framework linked to The Outsider that harvests credentials, identity documents, and 2FA codes over an encrypted WebSocket. New malware coverage includes the Octagon Android fraud bot ($1,400/month), the C2Looper Rust backdoor delivered via ClickFix, and the Aeternum loader that moved C2 to the Polygon blockchain.

[AINews] Hot Chips: OpenAI’s Jalapeño, Cerebras CS-5, Groq 3 LPX, Apple M6

OpenAI unveiled Jalapeno custom inference chip claiming 1.5-1.9x better perf-per-watt than NVIDIA GB200/GB300, deploying in-house by year-end.

At the 37th Hot Chips conference, OpenAI published first benchmark details for its custom Jalapeno inference chip, claiming 1.5-1.9x more work per watt, 1.7-3.6x lower end-to-end latency, and 2.1-4.1x higher interactive-workload performance versus NVIDIA GB200/GB300, with the 700W-rated part staying at or below 550W in tests. Deployment into OpenAI's own infrastructure begins by year-end, with Gen 2 deep in development and Gen 3 underway. OpenAI also said GPT-Astra and Codex helped write low-level kernels, reportedly 1.5-1.8x faster than human-expert code for selected attention and MoE blocks. Cerebras CS-5, Groq 3 LPX and Apple M6 were also featured at the conference.
