Nintendo Switch Vulnerability Allows Attackers to Run Unauthorized Code on Your Console
Nintendo patched CVE-2026-82079, a CVSS 7.0 stack buffer overflow in original Switch local wireless allowing nearby code execution via QR-code workflows.
Nintendo patched CVE-2026-82079 (CVSS 4.0 base score 7.0, High), a stack-based buffer overflow in the original Switch's local wireless networking affecting firmware earlier than 23.0.0. An adjacent attacker must scan a QR code displayed by the console, via the Album "Send to Smartphone" feature or Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, before crafted packets can corrupt memory and enable return-oriented programming for arbitrary code execution. EPSS is approximately 0.16%, Switch 2 is not affected, and Nintendo's advisory was published September 10, 2026.
Six new dnsmasq vulnerabilities open the door to DNS cache poisoning, local root
Six dnsmasq flaws enable DNS cache poisoning, DoS, memory leaks, and local root code execution; fixes ship in version 2.92rel2.
Researchers disclosed six dnsmasq vulnerabilities spanning memory safety and input validation, including heap buffer overflows in extract_name() and extract_addresses(), DNSSEC infinite-loop and out-of-bounds read flaws, and a DHCPv6 out-of-bounds write allowing local root code execution. Exploitation paths include DNS cache poisoning, bypassing security controls, remote denial of service, and local privilege escalation. Maintainers released version 2.92rel2 with fixes, and a stable 2.93 release is expected within weeks.
AL26-019 - Vulnerabilities impacting Citrix NetScaler ADC and NetScaler Gateway - CVE-2026-19490 and CVE-2026-19489
Canadian Cyber Centre alerts on Citrix NetScaler ADC/Gateway flaws CVE-2026-19490 (authentication bypass) and CVE-2026-19489 (buffer overflow), urging emergency patching.
The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security issued alert AL26-019 covering two Citrix NetScaler vulnerabilities disclosed in a vendor advisory on August 19, 2026. CVE-2026-19490 (CWE-288) allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to bypass authentication on appliances configured as a Gateway for SSL VPN, ICA Proxy, CVPN, RDP Proxy, or as an AAA virtual server. CVE-2026-19489 (CWE-120) is a classic buffer overflow that may cause memory overflow, unpredictable behavior, or denial-of-service conditions. Affected appliances are vulnerable when configured as a SAML IdP; fixed versions include 14.1-73.32, 13.1-63.21, and 13.1-37.277 for FIPS.
Fortinet security advisory (AV26-023) - Update 1
CISA added Fortinet CVE-2025-25249, a heap-based buffer overflow in the cw_acd daemon, to its KEV catalog; Canadian Cyber Centre urges patching.
The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security updated advisory AV26-023, which relays January 2026 Fortinet advisories covering FortiFone, FortiOS, FortiSASE, FortiSIEM, and FortiSwitchManager. On September 9, 2026, CISA added CVE-2025-25249, a heap-based buffer overflow in the cw_acd daemon, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. Related Fortinet flaws include unauthenticated local configuration access (CVE-2025-47855) and unauthenticated remote command injection (CVE-2025-64155). Administrators should review the advisories and apply available updates.
GitLab Patches Critical Flaws Enabling Arbitrary File Read, Credential Theft and Remote Code Execution
GitLab patched a CVSS 10.0 path traversal (CVE-2026-85706) plus deserialization and buffer-overflow flaws, urging self-managed users to update immediately.
GitLab released versions 19.3.2, 19.2.6, and 19.1.8 on September 10, 2026, fixing CVE-2026-85706 (CVSS 10.0), an unauthenticated path traversal in the repository commits API enabling arbitrary file reads on both Community and Enterprise Editions. CVE-2026-87719 (CVSS 9.9) is insecure deserialization in the EE GraphQL subscription serializer that can expose Advanced Search configurations and credentials, while CVE-2026-88765 (CVSS 8.5) allows authenticated RCE via crafted project exports. The update includes database migrations, so single-node deployments will experience downtime; GitLab.com is already patched.
Debian 13.7 ships the fixes behind 92 security advisories, updates 106 packages
Debian 13.7 'trixie' point release bundles 92 security advisories and 106 package updates, including kernel, glibc, u-boot and qemu fixes.
Debian shipped version 13.7 of 'trixie', folding in 92 previously published security advisories and corrections to 106 source packages, including six Linux kernel advisories (DSA-6381, DSA-6393, DSA-6405, DSA-6415, DSA-6466, DSA-6477). glibc fixes a buffer overflow (CVE-2026-5928) and buffer underflow (CVE-2026-5450), with 17 packages rebuilt against the updated library; qemu carries 25 CVEs including a secure boot bypass (CVE-2026-16288), imagemagick 24, wolfssl 15 and perl 13. Boot-chain fixes include a u-boot FIT image verification bypass (CVE-2026-46728), a BOOTP/DHCP buffer overread (CVE-2024-42040), and corrected intermediate certificate verification in sbsigntool. The installer was rebuilt with kernel ABI 6.12.107+deb13, and existing systems receive the fixes through normal package mirror updates.
