Mass-Scanning Campaign Exploits Vite Flaw to Extract Cloud Credentials From Exposed Dev Servers

 Ravie Lakshmanan  Sep 15, 2026 Vulnerability / Cloud Security Cybersecurity researchers have disclosed details of a mass-scanning campaign that has targeted Vite deployments siphon sensitive data. The first is an automated effort aimed at internet-exposed Vite development servers that's designed to steal cloud credentials, configurations from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure…

Attackers Exploit MLflow SSRF Flaw to Steal Cloud Credentials and Secrets

Attackers exploit MLflow SSRF CVE-2026-64849 (CVSS 9.3) to steal cloud credentials; CISA added it to KEV; FUXA flaw CVE-2026-25895 is being scanned.

watchTowr observed exploitation of MLflow CVE-2026-64849, an unauthenticated SSRF (CVSS 9.3) affecting versions below 3.15.0, within hours of CVE assignment on August 17, 2026, with attackers abusing model-registry webhooks to reach cloud metadata endpoints and exfiltrate credentials and secrets. CISA added the flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on August 19, 2026, with a September 2 patch deadline for federal civilian agencies. VulnCheck reported scanning of FUXA CVE-2026-25895 (missing authentication plus path traversal, CVSS 9.5, versions through 1.2.9) beginning August 18; about 60 FUXA instances are exposed and no RCE payloads have been dropped yet.

Threat Matrix: Mapping threats across cloud web applications

Microsoft released a Cloud Web Applications Threat Matrix, a MITRE ATT&CK-aligned framework mapping threats to cloud-hosted web apps and serverless platforms.

Microsoft introduced the cloud web applications threat matrix, which organizes attack techniques for cloud-hosted web apps and serverless platforms using MITRE ATT&CK tactics, from resource development through impact. The framework covers attack paths spanning application code, managed runtimes, workload identities, and deployment pipelines, cataloging techniques such as subdomain takeover, code injection in connected repositories, compromised registry images, exposed admin interfaces, and serverless trigger injection. It builds on Microsoft's earlier Kubernetes and storage services matrices to help defenders identify visibility gaps, prioritize hardening, and plan investigations in cloud-native environments.

U.S. CISA adds a MLflow flaw to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog

CISA added actively exploited MLflow SSRF flaw CVE-2026-64849 (CVSS 9.3) to its KEV catalog; attackers are stealing cloud credentials from exposed instances.

CISA added CVE-2026-64849, a critical unauthenticated server-side request forgery in MLflow, to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog. The flaw affects MLflow versions before 3.15.0 and allows unauthenticated attackers to reach internal services including cloud metadata endpoints, exposing temporary cloud credentials. watchTowr observed in-the-wild exploitation exfiltrating credentials and secrets, plus widespread scanning of exposed MLflow instances within hours of the CVE's assignment on August 17, 2026. MLflow is an open-source platform for managing the machine learning and AI development lifecycle with over 60 million monthly downloads.

Hackers Use Autonomous AI Agents to Launch Mass Credential Theft Attacks in Under 6 Hours

Google Cloud reports attackers used autonomous AI agents to steal thousands of credentials including 23,800 secrets in a sub-six-hour campaign.

Google Cloud threat intelligence observed financially motivated attackers compromising cloud infrastructure and using AI coding agents guided by written playbook files to scan, harvest and rotate credentials within six hours. An exposed C2 dashboard for a framework called Recon organized and validated more than 23,800 stolen secrets, including API keys for cloud and AI services. Related activity includes UNC6780 publishing the trojanized tiktoken_mcp package on PyPI to target CI/CD tokens and the DUSTMAKER stealer hiding in .claude, .vscode and .cursor workspace directories.

Hackers Use Autonomous AI Agents to Harvest Thousands of Credentials in Under 6 Hours

Google Cloud documents a financially motivated actor using autonomous AI agents on a compromised cloud tenant to harvest 23,800+ credentials in under six hours.

Google Cloud reports that an attacker compromised a victim's cloud environment and deployed a multi-agent framework driven by preconfigured Markdown playbooks to autonomously handle vulnerability scanning, credential collection, error troubleshooting, and IP rotation. An exposed command-and-control server hosted the 'Recon' framework with a live dashboard managing over 23,800 harvested secrets, including cloud and AI-service API keys. The report also ties DUSTMAKER to UNC6780/TeamPCP, targeting AI development tools and CI/CD systems via trojanized MCP packages such as tiktoken_mcp. Google has disabled linked assets and updated protections after the actors' operational security failures.

Malicious LiteLLM Releases Tied to Trivy Hack May Have Exposed 2,100+ Organizations

Malicious LiteLLM 1.82.7/1.82.8 PyPI releases tied to the Trivy TeamPCP campaign harvested cloud, SSH, and database credentials, potentially exposing 2,500+ organizations.

CloudSEK reported that two malicious LiteLLM releases on PyPI (versions 1.82.7 and 1.82.8, live about 40 minutes on March 24) harvested cloud keys, SSH keys, Kubernetes tokens, and database passwords, with captured loot files mapping potential exposure to more than 2,500 organizations including NVIDIA, Cisco, Deloitte, Volkswagen, FedEx, Siemens, and X Corp. The campaign is part of TeamPCP (tracked by Google as UNC6780), linked to the Aqua Security Trivy scanner compromise tracked as CVE-2026-33634 and added to CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on March 26. The payload used a litellm_init.pth file executed at Python interpreter startup and exfiltrated secrets to models.litellm[.]cloud; the FBI's FLASH-20260702-01 advisory urged rotation of CI/CD, publishing, and cloud credentials.
