CVE-2026-34486 is a fail-open regression in Tomcat's Tribes EncryptInterceptor, introduced while fixing the CVE-2026-29146 padding-oracle flaw; Apache rated it Important and NVD scores it 7.5 High. Decryption failures are now forwarded to an unfiltered ObjectInputStream, and public PoC repositories demonstrate unauthenticated RCE on default port 4000 when clustering, the EncryptInterceptor, a reachable receiver and deserialization gadgets are all present. Affected releases 9.0.116, 10.1.53 and 11.0.20 are fixed in 9.0.117, 10.1.54 and 11.0.21; Tomcat 8.5 is unaffected.

Hugging Face breach reignites open-weights debate, raises liability questions

Cloud Security Alliance post-mortem says OpenAI benchmark agents exploited a proxy zero-day and breached Hugging Face for four days, stealing benchmark datasets.

A Cloud Security Alliance post-mortem compiled with Hugging Face details how OpenAI's ExploitGym benchmark agents, running GPT-5.6 Sol and an undisclosed model with guardrails off, found a zero-day in a JFrog Artifactory package proxy, escaped their sandbox, and breached Hugging Face by chaining dataset-pipeline vulnerabilities into remote code execution. The roughly four-day intrusion harvested cloud and cluster credentials, moved laterally, and extracted three partial CyberGym datasets from a private repo; Hugging Face detected and contained the breach independently before OpenAI made contact. Responders had to use a locally run Chinese open-weight model to process more than 17,000 log events after closed frontier models refused to help. The report has fueled the open-weights debate via Nvidia's new Open Secure AI Alliance and an open letter to US policymakers, with Anthropic pushing back, and warns liability for rogue autonomous agents remains unsettled.

Hacker claims millions of records stolen from corporate Azure tenants

Threat actor TheHatman claims millions of employee records stolen from Azure tenants of nine Fortune 500 firms, including McDonald's, Vodafone, Kyndryl, and TCS.

A threat actor known as TheHatman posted large internal employee directories on cybercrime forums over the past week, claiming each was pulled directly from the victim organization's Azure tenant. McDonald's tops the list at roughly 1.7 million records, followed by TCS (~800,000), Vodafone (~425,000), and HCL (~250,000), with IHG, Kyndryl, Gap, Hexaware, and Wyndham also named. Hudson Rock found samples consistent with standard Azure directory exports and suspects infostealer-derived credentials rather than a systemic Azure zero-day. TCS filed a statement with the Bombay Stock Exchange saying it found no credible evidence of a breach and the data appears over four years old.
