Meta lets Facebook users steer recommendations in their own words
Meta’s Your Algorithm lets Facebook users describe Feed and Reels preferences, with updates said to apply quickly.
Meta is giving Facebook users a new way to steer recommendations by describing, in their own words, which Feed and Reels topics they want more or less of. The “Your Algorithm” tools are available from the three-dot menu and through freeform follow-up questions after Interested or Not interested feedback. Meta says large language models interpret that text and combine it with existing engagement signals so recommendations can change within the same session. TechCrunch describes the preference changes as reflected in real time, a slightly different timing claim from Meta’s same-session wording. TechCrunch also says Instagram introduced the same feature earlier and that Threads offers a related Dear Algo control.
