Meta unveils camera-free AI glasses and 100g VR Glasses

At Connect 2026, Meta introduced $349 camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses, $449 Gen 3 models, and $1,299.99 VR Glasses for Spring 2027.

At Connect 2026, Meta and EssilorLuxottica unveiled an expanded AI glasses lineup led by Ray-Ban Meta Audio, the company's first audio-only, camera-free glasses. The Audio model weighs 43 grams and starts at $349, with about 12 hours of battery (TechCrunch also cites up to 48 hours with the case) for audio, calls, and speech translation; Meta's newsroom says it ships October 13, while TechCrunch says preorders open that day in 23 color and lens combinations. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 starts at $449 and adds a 12 MP camera, 3K video, a six-microphone array, Dolby Atmos capture, adjustable temples, and up to nine hours of battery. Meta says more than 100 styles across Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Meta Glasses will ship by year-end, including a $249 Meta Adventurer, with sales expanding to Singapore, South Korea, Mexico, and the UAE and Brazil coming soon; The Verge reports Kylie Jenner and Blackpink's Lisa collections at $399. Separately, Meta announced about-100-gram VR Glasses, five times lighter than Quest 3, with a glasses-plus-compute-puck design, a 5K micro-OLED display at 37 pixels per degree, Dolby Vision and Atmos, a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite chip, about three hours of playback, and Meta AI voice, gaze, and gesture control, priced at $1,299.99 for Spring 2027 alongside Disney+, ESPN, and hologram-calling partnerships. The Verge says a Muse agent is coming to the glasses, while TechCrunch says the Audio glasses and all AI glasses will use Muse and that Meta teased private processing it claims keeps user data from the company.
