OpenAI has expanded its ChatGPT Chrome extension so the assistant can read open tabs and carry out browser tasks. Chat mode uses tab content for more relevant answers; Work mode can send messages, complete forms, download files, and group tabs, including on signed-in sites and in the background, according to Cyber Security News. That outlet says the extension is on all ChatGPT plans, the listing also names Edge, Brave, and Opera, and the store requests permission before history access or file transfers, though not every action is separately approved. GBHackers says the October 15 ChatGPT account post does not describe permissions, retention, or approval steps and reports no incident or bypass. No flaw in the extension is confirmed; Cyber Security News also dates an India announcement to October 16.
