Cloudflare open-sources Forge and launches cf CLI

Cloudflare open-sourced Forge, a generation pipeline, and released cf, an open-beta CLI covering thousands of API operations for agents.

On 28 September 2026 Cloudflare open-sourced Forge, a pluggable generation pipeline for SDKs, CLIs, documentation, and related libraries so API changes can be linted and previewed in CI before they ship. Forge already produces the output required for the cf CLI and is planned to power Cloudflare’s API documentation and SDKs in Rust, Go, TypeScript, and Python; generators can be chained, including OpenAPI-to-Cap’n Web bindings, with MCP servers and schema or client libraries described as further targets. The same day Cloudflare released cf, an open-beta agent-oriented CLI generated from OpenAPI schemas through Forge, with JSON as the default output, cloudflare.config.ts as a new TypeScript configuration starting with Workers, and Vite as the default local development server. Sources disagree on API scale: one says the API spans more than 3,500 operations across hundreds of services, while the other says cf exposes more than 3,000 operations compared with about 280 Wrangler commands. Cloudflare said agent use of Wrangler reached 48 percent last week, up from a quarter in March 2026.
