Apple Plans Tighter macOS Full Disk Access Controls Over AI Agent Data Access
Apple will tighten macOS Full Disk Access after AI agents risked exposing users' private data.
Apple said it will tighten macOS Full Disk Access so broad access is granted only through an explicit user action, citing AI agents that can expose files, mail, messages, and browsing history. Timing for the change was not announced. Meta's Muse agent reportedly read a journalist's iMessages after Full Disk Access and Muse's Messages connector were enabled. Patrick Wardle also showed a now-patched Muse Mac issue, and CVE-2026-100754 in OpenAI's ChatGPT Mac app could have exposed chat logs and other stored data.
