consul-k8s ACL flaw can grant elevated Consul privileges (CVE-2026-110720)
An attacker must already create a ServiceAccount in another namespace and reach the Consul API; active exploitation is not confirmed.
Cross-namespace ACL bypass in Consul-k8s 0.42.0+
Consul-k8s 0.42.0 and later mishandle component ACL binding rules, allowing a cross-namespace authorization bypass. A low-privileged attacker on the network can trigger it without user interaction and obtain elevated Consul privileges. Clusters running those consul-k8s versions are affected until upgraded.
What to do: Upgrade consul-k8s to 1.8.18 or 2.1.0, which HashiCorp states fix CVE-2026-110720.
