Google's new Flash TTS models let you design AI voices from scratch using text descriptions
Google released Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS and Flash-Lite TTS for designed, cloned, and multilingual synthetic voices.
Google is rolling out Gemini 3.8 Flash TTS and Gemini 3.8 Flash-Lite TTS through the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. Flash TTS creates voices from text descriptions, offers more than 2,000 presets, and can clone a voice from a 30-second sample after a spoken consent statement. Both support over 100 languages, line-level stage directions, and inaudible SynthID watermarks. Through the end of 2026, an hour of audio output costs about $0.81 on Flash TTS and $0.54 on Flash-Lite, rising to $1.62 and $1.08 in 2027.
