OpenAI’s latest features take direct aim at the app store model
OpenAI turns ChatGPT into an app discovery and launch platform with Dots agents, extensions, Sign in with ChatGPT, and an enterprise marketplace.
At Dev Day, OpenAI announced features turning ChatGPT into an app discovery, connection, and launch platform, including in-conversation app suggestions and an expanded plugin architecture supporting interactive extensions. 'Sign in with ChatGPT' lets users carry their identity and AI allowance into third-party apps, launching with 16 partners including Cognition's Devin, Notion, Vercel, T3, OpenClaw, and Dactyl. New autonomous 'Dots' agents each run their own cloud computer and browser, connect to 4,000+ apps, and perform read-only proactive research with user approval. An enterprise marketplace launches with 30+ partners including Adobe, Figma, Salesforce, ServiceNow, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto Networks, with customers able to apply OpenAI commitments toward partner software.
