Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky says AI agents need a real operating system, not chatbot-only interfaces.
Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky discussed the company’s new AI-powered search and argued that chatbots are a poor interface for browsing and booking travel. He said Airbnb will spend the next three to six months exploring collaborative, “multiplayer” interfaces and more agent-friendly app controls. Chesky described future Airbnb agents interoperating through MCP, and said consumer agents such as Muse and Instinct still handle Airbnb poorly. He argued the industry lacks an AI operating system and SDK, citing ChatGPT’s unsuccessful app-store effort.
