Brian Chesky interview: AI agents need their own operating system

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky says AI agents need a real operating system, not chatbot-only interfaces.

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky discussed the company’s new AI-powered search and argued that chatbots are a poor interface for browsing and booking travel. He said Airbnb will spend the next three to six months exploring collaborative, “multiplayer” interfaces and more agent-friendly app controls. Chesky described future Airbnb agents interoperating through MCP, and said consumer agents such as Muse and Instinct still handle Airbnb poorly. He argued the industry lacks an AI operating system and SDK, citing ChatGPT’s unsuccessful app-store effort.

AI-powered app maker Wabi pivots to a messaging experience

Wabi pivots from prompt-built apps to invite-only Wabi 2.0, a messenger that builds interfaces on demand.

Wabi, founded by Replika creator Eugenia Kuyda, is shifting from a prompt-based app builder to Wabi 2.0, a personal agent that builds an interface for the task at hand. The invite-only messenger is meant to keep chat, apps, and people together, with examples such as calorie trackers or family calendars inside topic threads. It follows demand for agents like Meta's Muse and arrives as OpenAI expands interactive plugins inside ChatGPT.
