AI agents are coming to Rivian’s cars
Rivian plans to let third-party AI agents from Anthropic and others run in its vehicles, while keeping them off driving controls.
Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe said at TechCrunch Disrupt that future Rivian vehicles will run third-party AI agents from companies such as Anthropic, alongside Rivian's own assistant. The company did not give a timeline and pointed to an AI and Autonomy Day in December. Scaringe said an in-house agentic framework routes requests to an on-vehicle model or cloud models, and that agents will not control braking, steering, or other vehicle-level functions. Tesla already offers in-car access to Grok.
