Microsoft drops Copilot+ branding from its new laptops
Microsoft is dropping Copilot+ branding from new Surface laptops after weak sales.
Microsoft is quietly dropping Copilot+ branding from new Surface laptops, Surface CVP Brett Ostrum told Windows Central at Snapdragon Summit 2026. Copilot+ launched in 2024 to distinguish PCs with on-device AI and neural processors meeting at least 40 TOPS. Ostrum said new devices still meet that hardware requirement but will not use the brand. The move comes a little over two years after a troubled launch and poor sales.
