OpenAI describes uses such as monitoring customer feedback or rerunning analysis, with messaging through Slack, Teams, and soon SMS. Specialist Dots can receive identities, credentials, and tools, and OpenAI is working with Microsoft on Agent 365 security controls.

OpenAI launched Dots, GPT-6 Astra-powered always-on agents that work across apps, starting with Pro and Business Premium.

At DevDay, OpenAI introduced Dots, always-on assistants powered by GPT-6 Astra that use a cloud computer, a browser, and more than 4,000 apps while learning preferences. Users can message or voice-call a Dot from ChatGPT and connect it to Microsoft Teams and Slack, with SMS planned; only one Dot can be created for now. OpenAI says built-in and custom rules plus an auto-review feature decide when a Dot acts alone or hands work back, such as password changes. Dots are rolling out to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium, weeks after Meta's Muse, which drew a safety complaint after a user said it shared their address.

Plugins connect to more than 4,000 apps; users reach a Dot in ChatGPT, Slack, and Microsoft Teams, while unattended proactive research is limited to read-only tools and sensitive actions need approval. Alongside Dots, OpenAI is releasing cheaper GPT-6.1 Sol, while top-end GPT-6.1 Astra is held back over safety problems. Pro access starts outside the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK; Business Premium is broader, and Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare are admin-gated betas.
