Epic says its new vibe-coded Epic Games Launcher is faster than Steam
Epic Games released a preview launcher rewritten with AI that it says starts faster than Steam.
Epic Games released a public Preview of a rebuilt Epic Games Launcher and said the team used AI, or vibe coding, to write and review a new codebase instead of porting the old one. Store general manager Martin Keely said a small team replicated existing functionality in a different stack for Windows and Mac, with Linux planned. Epic claims the launcher starts faster than Steam; Ars testing found a few seconds' cold-start advantage, while a claimed 0.06-second tray-restore difference was not noticeable.
